vendor WTF

My venue/caterer keep breaking promises on deliverable timelines on things like menu options and their pricing. I am getting pissed. Phone calls and emails get ignored. THe venue is at least an hour from my house so going there is not a great option. I have not sent the email expressing my concerns (which are many at this point) becasue my dad didn't want to ruffle feathers but I am like F that, i need my answers!

What would you do?

Re: vendor WTF

  • I would be calling and emailing them like crazy and giving them a deadline for their menu and pricing and would schedule a meeting.  I don't care about ruffling feathers when I will be paying them money for their services.  Take initiative if you want to avoid the runaround.
  • word! Thank you!! I am like - this is the biggest party I will ever throw, you should be acting like you deserve my business!!!

    :)
  • I would call them 3 or 4 times a day if I had too! lol   FI and I actually originally had a different hall booked, I tried calling/emailing for 4 months straight and didnt hear a peep from them.  I got so pissed off I sent them a registered letter telling them I wanted my money back and I booked a new hall.  Long story short, if found out they went out of business!

Calling them like crazy and if you do have free time (thats a joke, I know)  I would take a suprise visit and demand answers.  Do you have a signed contract agreeing any prices etc;?

  • You should have gotten menu pricing in writing when you booked!
They shouldn't change the prices on you from then. Make sure whatever you get, its in writing! Call and email and if they tell you stuff over the phone, ask for it via email, or send it to them with a return receipt to confirm so you have written communication.

<div>Technically they "can" change the prices but it wouldn't be by much.  Prices for food (especially seafood or other items) can increase over the year.  It was stated in our contract that the food price could go up by a bit but not much.  We aren't expecting it to and I don't think our venue is either, but they put that in there as a "just in case."</div>
