Hi everyone! I got married on December 18 and thought I would share some of the details.
We were married at church I grew up in (my parents are still members). I was baptised, confirmed, and had my first communion in this church and went to the parish grade school for 10 years, so it meant a lot to me.
The church has all new priests since I attended there regularly so we decided to ask a priest who is a close friend of Andrew's grandparents to marry us. He's been a friend of the family for 40+ years and has married several of Andrew's aunts and baptized a lot of his cousins.
I was starting to get nervous about this priest before the wedding, though. Whenever we met with him he spent most of the time talking about his experiences and we barely got a word in. We contacted him a few times to try to nail down ceremony details, but he would just wave it of and say that we would figure it out at the rehearsal.
Fortunately everything worked out really well. The rehearsal was a little chaotic, but we straightened out all the details. The priest was a huge hit at the wedding. He's very personable and did a good job of bringing some levity to the ceremony so that all the guests weren't just sitting there all somber. We had a lot of guests, both Catholics and not, who came up to us and said they loved the ceremony and thought the priest was great.
Overall, the whole day was lovely. There were no major problems, the weather stayed cold but clear, and eveyone had a great time at the reception.
I don't have pro-pics back yet, but here are a few that our friends took.
