Dress Maker in L.A.??

So, I have had my heart set on an amsale dress for quite some time now, but the price tag is way out of my league. I have found a few people online that will recreate the dress for a ridiculously low price, but I am nervous bc they aren't within driving distance, so I would be taking a serious risk. I would have to send the person my measurements and hope it turns out awesome. Have any of you done this?? Does anyone have a person they would recommend that could do it for a reasonable price? Also, do any of you living in and around LA know of someone around here that I could actually meet in person. Im also not a huge fan of pre-worn dress sites such as, preownedweddingdresses.com, because it's the same thing as far as me not really knowing what Im getting until I pay for it and receive it.     Have you gone trying on dresses yet?

    I thought for sure I would end up buying a Jim Hjelm or Amy Michelson dress, but once I tried them on I realized I liked my Watters dress 10x better.  

    I would be a little on the fence about having someone replicate a dress without seeing it when you pay for it...

    I HIGHLY recommend Patty Sanchez.  She's located in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles. She's amazing!!!  She used to own a bridal shop called Monaco Couture (MNI Bridal Inc.) in Los Angeles, but she had to close it because of the state of the economy.  Anyways, she used to design and sew all the dresses.  The store was well known for being really good at copying designer dresses.  Her prices are extremely reasonable and she's incredibly easy to work with.  She works from home, so she's able to keep her prices low, but of course the quality and talent stays the same.  I'm sure you can't go wrong with her :-)  Doesn't hurt to give her a call to give you a quote.
