Is it rude...?

Is it rude to not pay for my bridesmaids hair/makeup. Or should i pay for the MOH ? I really don't want to spend all that money...i was thinking of just asking if they would want to get it done and if so they can pay for themselves. What do u guys think ?

I do not think it it rude.  The three weddings I have been in asked if we wanted hair and/or make-up.  I always paid for it myself.  My sister gave us a gift card for the salon that we got our hair/make-up done as part of our gifts.  If you want them to get their hair and make-up than you should.  Hope that helps!

I don't know that it is rude. I personally think making them pay for make-up is a step too far. I know when I accept being in someone's wedding I add the cost of getting my hair and nails done into the equation.

That being said, I am not paying for my bridesmaids to get their hair or make-up done. I asked that they do have their hair professionally done but said they could go where ever they wanted or use Megan who will be coming to the house to do my hair. They all chose to use her since she is so reasonable. For make-up they can do whatever they want. Cindy will be coming to the house to do mine and they are more than welcome to get their make-up done or not. Some want to and some don't want to spend the money and that is fine with me.

Ditto PPs. If you're requiring professional hair and/or makeup, you should pay to have it done. If not, it's their choice and so, can come from their pocketbook!

I am paying for all my girls to have their hair done. For make up, I am not paying, so I gave them all the option to either have it done or do it themselves. The girls split pretty much right up the middle with that. Half wanted to pay to get it and half wanted to DIY.

If you are requiring it, you should pay. If you are just offering them the use of the person you are using, then they can decide to pay if it is comfortable for their budget.

I agree with everyone else. I told my girls it was up to them whether they wanted it or not and gave them the prices at the salon. All of them chose to do it, but I would not have minded if they chose not to.

It's not rude, but then don't get pissy when they do it themselves and they look like s*** in your photos.

I told the girls that all I was hoping for was that their hair was clean, non offensive (read:not a hot pink mohawk) and something they wouldn't mind seeing in pictures years down the road. For most of them, they'll probably just have it blown out or straighten it, and I'm fine with that.

As long as you're not mandating that they must all have it put up in an elaborate updo and a full face of makeup... it's fine if you don't pay. But if they do it themselves, just be prepared for not liking some of the makeup. Kwim?

I didn't pay for my BMs to get their makeup for hair done.  I also did not require them to get their hair and makeup done (only 2 BMs got their makeup done.)
