Sandels or New York City

My and my fi are torn between honeymooning in sandels or NYC.  I have been to both places, but my fi has only been NYC. Any suggestions would help.

    It really depends on what you are looking for. Those places are totally opposite of each other. If you are looking to sight see, be on the go 24/7, hustle and bustle, etc then head to NYC. But if you want to relax, be on the beach, and soak up sun, the head for a Sandals resort.

    Why don't you pick a new place instead of going back somewhere you have been and can't decide between?

    Sandals Resorts are overpriced and you can find other AI's that are nicer and much cheaper. They are always having that big sale to make people think they're getting a deal. Friends of ours paid more to stay in one of those rondoval suites at Sandals than DH and I paid to go to Fiji. The price they paid, they could have gone to Greece, or the Maldives, French Polynesia, etc.. but they went to the Caribbean where you can spend so much less and get so much more.

    Have you looked into Mexico? Or the DR? The Bahamas? Aruba? A cruise?

    NYC is an amazing city, but it's expensive. You'll have to pay a lot for hotel and transportation and all your meals, drinks, and entertainment.

    I love my city. Not everything is expensive-there are literally TONS of really reasonably priced restaurants and the subway is a cheap and efficient way to get around. Hotel deals can be found.

    Sandals-i've never stayed at one. I guess I would probably pick an island first that interests me (or a group of islands that I can ferry between for day trips) adn then choose a hotel on that island.

    We did a city based HM that involved running around & sight seeing.  I don't recommend it.  You need time to just sit & be.

    You live in NY State.  You can go to NYC anytime.  Go to the beach for your HM.
