Axxium by OPI

I know I asked this a few months ago but I cant find the post (search function on here isnt the best).

Does anyone know of any Northern NJ nail places that offer this? Anything in Sussex, Morris, Passaic, or even Bergen counties? Also, I am going to call nail places to ask, but can anyone tell me how "axxium" is pronounced before I call and look like an idiot? haha thanks!

I've read up on both Axxium and the CND Shellac manicures. From what I saw, the OPI Axxium doesn't actually do what it promises and will damage your nails when you go to remove the polish.

I can say from experience that the CND shellac manicure is pretty impressive. I had it done at the end of September for my shower and engagement pictures which were a week apart from one another. The manicure definitely lasted and then some! I had it on for two weeks and you couldn't tell other than where my nails had started to grow out.

I know this sounds like an infomercial, but it really was impressive. My nails were still shiny and as beautiful as they were on the first day. I removed the polish myself by soaking a cotton ball in acetone and then wrapping it in tin foil. I waited 10 minutes and then the polish literally scrapes off. My nails looked fine, no harm no foul.

Here's a locator to find salons that do the CND shellac manicures: http://www.cnd.com/Locate/Shellac-Find-A-Salon.aspx

(This actually reminds me to call and make an appointment to get them done before the wedding. So thanks for that!)

Thanks - this is great! Also love that I can look up places that do it on their website. Will have to try this out soon. Thanks again!

I know Metropolitan Nails in Hoboken does it but I would not recommend it.  My mom had it done and it ruined her nails.

I'm not sure because I've never had it done.   I know it was the removal process.  They cracked and broke all of her nails.  She said she would never do it again.

I had Axxium and it ruined my nails!  I did it for two months straight over the summer and I am still waiting for the effects to completely grow out.  I did it for the first time before I went to Italy and I loved it and kept doing it.  BAD IDEA!  I will do it again but only if I am going somewhere.  Never again will I do back to back to back to back axxium.  My poor nails.  Frown

I have been using the OPI soak offs since the summer and I love it.  It lasts for about 3 weeks.  My nails have not beed affected at all.  I also have 3 friends that use it now too and they love it as well.  Good luck in you decision.

The OPI treatment is not for natural nails, only to be used if you have tips.

This may sound silly but are we talking about gel manicures?

I used the OPI Axxium for a few months and it absolutely destroyed my nails.  Now the salon I went to is telling people it's only for special occasions and not to do it more than once.  If it's once for the wedding it's fine, but I wouldn't do it more.

I've had the Axxium (also known as OPI gel manicure) for probably 6 months now and have gotten it done every 2 to 3 weeks depending on whether or not I had an event. The damage to your nails is all in the way it's removed. Make sure the salon is soaking your nails and not filing them down. My salon only charges $25 and I work in the city and dont get home early, so for me, it's the best option...
