Workout Accountability: Monday

I hope everyone had a good weekend!  How did you all do workout and food-wise?

Food wasn't awful but it wasn't great for me either.  I went grocery shopping last night so that should change some things :)

I'm having weird foot pain that I can't figure out the root of.  I'm 99.9% sure it's NOT my shoes since this started before I attempted and failed (only 1 mile) to run on Friday.  I've been icing and taking ibuprofen.  We will see if that helps, but it's hard to stay off of my feet.  I'm going to hold off on running/eliiptical until this settles.  For now it will just be bike and lifting for me!

Re: Workout Accountability: Monday

  • lbarr I hope your foot feels better! That sucks :(

This weekend I did a 65 minute cardio work out at the gym on Saturday, 40 minutes on the elliptical and 25 minutes of intervals on the treadmill. FI and I did a circuit work out with dumbbells together yesterday for about 50 minutes.

Food wise I did ok this weekend. I have been feeling super hungry lately. I don't know why. I hope it subsides.

  • *Ibarr* - I hope you didn't sprain anything!

I got a good 60 minute workout in on Friday, then I travelled on Saturday so I didn't get to exercise. Ate relatively well (till Girl's Night brownies were made...), but the lack of exercise kinda stunk.

Yesterday I didn't get home till after the gym had closed and FI and I ended up going to register at Bed Bath & Beyond, so I missed another workout opportunity. Gotta get back to it today!

  • I don't think anything is sprained.  The ball of my foot kills in one little spot.  It seems like whenever I have big workout goals I want to accomplish I always get sidelined for a week or so because of something.  Medic, I've been using your icing method with the cups.  I bought some last night and tried it once and I liked it!  It actually made my foot feel better for awhile.  I wish I could just ice it all day...
  • lbarr, hope your foot feels better! I hope you can catch a break soon.

This weekend was good, but busy! Did W2D3 of C25K on Friday plus 30DS. Saturday I did No More Trouble Zones before going bridesmaid dress shopping with my youngest sister who's getting married in December. Then we had a girls night in which I may have eaten way too much spinach dip! Yesterday I did my first day of Week 3 of C25K and then 30DS.

Tonight I plan on trying Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism from Jillian Michaels. I found this thing on Pinterest about a 30 day work out regimen using JM's DVDs in different orders. I can't get Pinterest on this computer, but will try to remember to link to it later.

On a side note, I tried on my wedding dress this weekend (I'm storing it at my mom's) and it fits perfectly!!!! I had to order a size that didn't fit with hopes of letting it out back in November...long story, but now I don't have to get it let out! YAY! Maybe by May when I have my fitting, they'll have to take it in! Smile

    Have a great day everyone!!

  • lbarr- glad you like the ice massage :)  Could you have a stone bruise? http://www.aapsm.org/ct0698.html (I'd say since it probably is not your shoes, could it be overtraining?  or hard running surfaces?)

As far as my weekend, I did a 12 mile run with a friend who is training for a marathon as well (hers is the day before mine) so our training plans match up well.  It was awesome!  We talked the whole time, and finished in under 2 hours :)  I never thought that I'd be so excited to only run 12 :P

Food-wise, well I've had better weekends, but I did ok.  We went to Cheesecake Factory, so when I got my meal I cut it in half right away so I wouldn't over eat.  A small consolation considering I drank an entire bottle of wine Innocent... whoopsies!
  • lbarr-  hope you feel better soon!

We didn't do well this weekend.  We made quinoa mac n' cheese on Friday, and then ate some of the limited edition birthday cake oreos (YUM.)  On Saturday, we ate better but still went for some gelato while we were in town.  It wasn't those splurges that kill me, though, it's that FI and I have both been really hungry and munchy at around 9pm lately, and we've been giving into pretzels and the like. I think I may make up this cinnamon quinoa bake recipe I found and crumble it into chunks for any much-needed snacks, though we are re-instating our 'no food after 8' rule again.

I did a weight workout yesterday, and am doing cardio tonight.

<div>I don't usually run long distances (more than 5-6) miles during weekdays and lately I've been running a day on and a day off so I don't think it's over training.  That's pretty typical for me.  It possibly could be the shoes but I hadn't gone running for almost 3 days prior to noticing my foot issues.  I saw metarsalgia this weekend online and was thinking that sounds like me.  I might try getting an insert or just new shoes all together to dismiss that idea all together.  I'm also going to take a few days off of running and might try some light biking and see how that goes.  </div><div>
</div><div>ETA:  Now that I think of it the only thing that "change" last week was my squats using the Smith Machine ... I increased the weight.  I tend to sit back more on my heels to feel the squat more in the bum area.  I'm wondering if in doing that plus the added weight that my stance was incorrect and "pulled" that muscle.  Hmmmmm</div>
  • Sorry its been a while, gotte get back on here. This weekend I had class Saturday and Sunday 9-5 and stayed at a friends house sat night to save me an hour drive, so I was able to rest. I've pushed it last week, started interval training. Keeping up with body works and boxinf club. Also doin mad abs marchs :-) and the winter challenge!
  • Happy Monday! I am so excited about this weekend.

I have been really sick. So Saturday I did nothing. It was awesosme.

Sunday, I finally got to try my "Zombies, Run!" app. I freakin love it! I didn't stay out as long as I would have liked. My body was really starting to give out, and while I'm still recovering I didn't want to push it. I only got in 15 mins. But it was 15 @ 20mph so according to my HRM I burned 433 calories. Not too shabby.
  • I was going to be terribly lazy yesterday and not go to the gym, but my mom was going and peer pressured me into joining her.  Thanks mom :)

It was a relatively light day for me, 10 minute jog on the treadmill before going to the weights and doing an arms/shoulders/abs circuit for 30 minutes.

Tonight I'm hitting the Piloxing class again.  Hopefully I'll get there early enough that I can run for a bit before it starts!

Good luck to everyone this week!

This weekend was okay for food, and good for exercise.

FI's parents got back from a 12 day trip so we had dinner with them both Saturday and Sunday night.. and my FMIL doesn't exactly worry too much about the fat content of the fabulous dishes she makes. The turkey casserole we had last night had 17g of saturated fat (that's right, JUST saturated).... Felt pretty bad after eating that one, but of course you can't be impolilte and say no I won't eat that it's too fattening - especially when she spent so long making it! Anyway, the dinner the night before was close to being as delicious and as high calorie as the turkey casserole. So I didn't feel great about my food choices over the weekend.

Exercise was good, got to the gym Friday evening for an hour and 10 minutes. Did Week 4 Day 2 of C25K and then hit the weights! Also got to the gym last night for Week 4 Day 3 of C25K and did my weights again. Woohoo!

I also ordered 3 Jillian Michaels dvds this weekend: 30DS, Ripped in 30, and 6 Week 6 Pack. Got all 3 for $30 including shipping, so I think it was a good buy. Excited to try them out!

  • Mondays are so busy for me, so I'm popping in quick during lunch...

lbarr: Yikes, hope your foot feels better! I'm sure it will soon, you seem to be doing all the right things to recover.

This weekend I lifted Friday, took Saturday off but did a ton of shopping/walking with a friend and Sunday was my super workout day: lifting, elliptical, ran two miles, and biked.

I ate healthy this weekend (save for one recipe experiment which turned out to be loaded with calories- but I only taste tested it) which I was proud of because usually I slack a bit on my diet on the weekends.  It helps that I've been planning meals ahead of time and working with fresh ingredients.

    Nice work everyone!

  • Happy Monday!

Sunday I took a long walk with one of my girlfriends, which was a great way to catch up and some calories. We walked a total of about 6 miles. Saturday I took a rest day though my FH and I spent most of the day moving out the last of our things from the old place. It's great to finally start settling in.

This morning I went to Bikram Yoga and was so happy to be able to go into Tree Stand without toppling over. It was neat... since there a bunch of mirrors all around so you can see yourself engage in the pose I noticed that my hips/thighs are slimming down and I didn't have this belly bulge like I used to during class. I also noticed I was able to move through the poses more efficiently and actually bring my forehead to my knee in a lot of the poses! I signed up for the studio's 30 day challenge so I will be supplementing some of my workouts with Bikram. It's a great way to sweat for 90 minutes and work on strength/flexibility!

First dress fitting is this weekend... hoping to see some good results. :-)

    Have a great day everyone!

  • I blew away any healthy advances this weekend lol, though I did workout on schedule.

Friday was my off night, Saturday I launched into Brazil Butt Lift week 4 day 1 (pretty sure -I'm not at home so I can't consult the manual- it was Cardio Axe, Bum Bum and Tummy Tuck).  Sunday night was BBL Sculpt, and tonight is my first Zumba class with FSILs.  I'm sore from last night' because I increased the weight a little, but I'm going to make this work!
