Terrible news

We found out a month ago that my Grandma had another lump in her breast. She had plans (some convention and then to a baptism to go to last month) so she waited a month and a half to have surgery. They found a malignant tumor today which means it is cancerous and could have possibly spread. She needed to go in right away to have it checked but she didn't. They are doing a biopsy next week and are going to do some x-rays and tests to see where it has spread to. I know what this means but I don't think it has hit me yet. I work with so many patients and see so many terrible things I just don't think I believe it yet.

Re: Terrible news

  • I'm sorry that you and your family are going through this. You will definitely be in my thoughts!
  • oh, halie :( that's so sad. I'll keep you and your grandma in my prayers. My paternal grandma had a mastectomy after cancer about 15 years ago. My maternal aunt had cancer about 4 years ago and is 100% okay now. Keep hope alive. <3

  •  i am sorry to hear that
hope ur grandma will  comply with doctors  and will be better soon .i  do know your  feeling ,do what we can do . everything will be better ....
  • So sorry to hear this.  My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer about 12 years ago.  She refused chemo & had a mastectomy.  She was doing great, but it recurred about 5 years ago and spread to her bones.  Again, she refused chemo because she felt it wasn't for her.  She is still alive today, living with the cancer (for the past 5 years!), receiving treatment, albeit non-aggressive.  She lives alone and can manage, though my parents do drive her to appointments.  She is turning 85 next month!  Have hope!  She has lived years past what her doctors thought!
