New York-Hudson Valley

Wedding Venue suggestions!

So I recently got engaged and we need to start thinking about venues.  We live in Brooklyn but I'm looking at hudson valley area because we want to get married in a more rustic, outdoorsy looking place.  We are looking to stay at around $100 a person which seems almost impossible.  Does anyone have any suggestions on places in the westchester/hudson valley area? We will have about 150-175 people.  HELP! Thanks!!

Lisa

  • Lisa, I am in the EXACT same situation, live in Brooklyn, want a more rustic wedding, with about the same # of people. We are going to look into the Garrison and Hollowbrook, as well as the CV Rich Mansion, and Paramount CC...
  • The Links at Unionvale...

  • I live in Manhattan and wanted the same thing.  We looked at a few, The Garrison, Highlands Country Club, FEAST, Bear Mountain.  We decided on The Garrison, which is more than $100pp, but I love it.  There's a lot up in that area though, I'm sure you can find something for that price if you look around.
  • why don't you try the Mansion at Colonial Terrace... An old mansion which is absolutely beautiful and within your price range.  woth the call.
  • I 2nd the links at union vale. We got married there and its under 100per person, it was beautiful and they did an amazing job.
  • The Garrison is more like $150-$200 after tax and gratuity - we have 200 people, I wasn't going to be able to swing that.  I orignally wanted to get married there but was turned off by the price.  I wanted a rustic feel, a barn would have been perfect, but I couldn't accept spending $10,000 on a site fee.  I found Hollow Brook Golf Club in Cortlandt Manor and it had everything I wanted.  The ceremony site is a little tight, only fits 150 people, but it is in a covered outdoor area.  Robbyn is amazing, I fell in love with her right away.  And I loved that relaxed feel of the place.  And the fact that the reception room is styled like a  barn sold me.  They are very flexible on their price and allow a lot of customization.  It was a choice between there and the Thayer just b/c Stacy from the Thayer is so amazing, and the hotel is incredible, the ceremony would have been overlooking the river.  It would have been great, but we felt Hollow Brook was the better rustic feel and fit for us.  Good luck hunting!  oh, and another place i loved was Round Hill.  Peter was a pleasure to talk to, but Round Hill seemed a perfect place for a spring or summer wedding because of the gardens, and I think it would be great in the fall too, but it was also completely booked through the fall and it was really far from where we lived, so we ended up not putting it in one of the choices.  Although the food is great (we went to a tasting, the price is pretty good, and the venue is incredible and unique - you won't find anything like it).
  • Villa Barone Hilltop Manor in Mahaopac best venue, food you get the most for your dollar.
  • You should also try Christos http://www.christoscatering.com/

We were very pleased with Christos in Poughkeepsie, and the price was reasonable.  It has a Country Club feel and the food is wonderful. You can negotiate a package that suits your budget and needs.  Chris tells you the price per guest, and that is the price you pay, including cake, table flowers, tax and tip.  Go to Christos!! Tell him Toni told you.. ;o)

Matt & I just had our wedding at Christos 9/23/12. Wow. The place is as immaculate as it is beautiful and elegant. The food was outrageous and bountiful. The filet was scrumptious -- Chris is very personal during the whole night. The grounds are stunning for pictures. The ceremony room needs very little decor since it is surrounded by walls of windows overlooking the lovely golf course. Everyone raved about it the whole night. Bathrooms are very tasteful and clean. The bridal room is spacious and comfortable. Even the cake cart is pretty.  If you are getting married or will be having any kind of event at all... this is the place to have it. So glad I chose Christos... it is truly an anointed place.
