Sacramento - ARGH!!!

I know that I can pull off a wedding on a low budget... IF I can find an affordable venue. Parks and Recs in the area charge $85-$120 an hour and require $300-$1000 deposits. We don't belong to a church. We don't want to get married in a restaurant. We don't want to get married at the courthouse. I'm stuck. It's frustrating. I almost said screw it and go with eloping instead.... but I can't get passed having a wedding and reception in that poofy white dress dancing with all of my closest friends. Its a rite of passage. I've been planning a wedding in my head since I was like 5!

So now I'm stuck. Fed up. Annoyed. Aggitated. And out of ideas. *sigh* It wouldn't be so bad if we moved our date back out to May 2011. But because of cruise costs and school.... it has to be January.

sorry you're frustrated.  How many people do you plan on inviting?  do you have a budget?  Some people's idea of low is a lot higher than others ideas of low.

I just checked some of your old posts - so now I have a better idea of what you're looking for.  Have you tried Slocum House?  for a group that small - a restaurant might be your best bet - and it's less "restauranty" than a normal restaurant.

If you're only doing 30 people - can't you do a DW on the cruise?

try Micke Grove Park in Lodi. Their Japanese Garden is relatively cheap and you can use a picnic area for the reception or their memorial auditorium too.

What is the budget you are going for?

The problem with slocum house is they have minimums and are still pretty pricey

The cheapest place I found in Sacramento so far is Haggin Oaks but they were still about $5000 for a saturday wedding.

I've decided to just have a tahoe wedding b/c Sacramento is pretty ridiculous with the site rental fees, guest minimums, and food prices.

I'm having a similar problem. I'm in Yuba City, about 45 minutes away from Sac... everything is too expensive, or not what I'm looking for. We also don't seem to have many venue options around here, that's not some expensive country club, a church or restaurant. It's very frustrating. :/
