looks like the wedding will be kid friendlyish

So Fi and I have been talking and looks like we've come to an agreement that children 8 & up within our family will be invited. We agree no infants and babies but our cousins who are 8 and older and there only 5 of them will be allowed.

My thoughts are at 8 when there told to sit and be quiet they'll listen, am I right?

We don't have kids and I haven't babysat in forever and when I did the little kiddies were always soooo good.

  • I would recommend something to distract them, like coloring, or extra bubbles, or something similar.  Not having kids at our wedding was not option, I LOVE being an auntie!!!! That being said, we picked up some wedding related coloring books, and crayons, and some extra bubble sets (out door wedding), I was also thinking about getting these inflatable beach balls I have seen on orientaltrading.com that say best wishes.  I figure with this they will be able to have a good time, without spoiling anyone's day.

That's a good idea. Ages will vary from 813 by the time wedding comes.

Since you have a varying age, try to concentrate on getting at least 1 thing that is age appropriate for each child.

The kids will range from 3-10 at my wedding. For the oldest, I plan on making her more of a puzzle book rather than a coloring book.

Well 3 are boys all around same age an 2 are girls same age. Maybe I'll stop in Michael's closer to wedding and buy different gadgets.
  • Ours is kid friendly too :) Family was very happy to hear on FI side since his cousins have been saying no kids! We will have a table set up for them, as well I am making treat bags for them with cryons, coloring book and a small little treat!

  • Well to be honest I do not want anyone under 18 there but I figure at 8 you understand sit still be quiet. I'm hoping at least.
  • I know I've said this before (broken record here!), but I don't get why people make a big fuss about kids at a wedding.  We're having kids at our wedding- not a whole lot because there aren't a whole lot of them in our families right now.  I'm not planning on providing anything for them- I've never been to a wedding like this and have never heard a bad peep out of a kid.  They eat and dance and have fun like everyone else!  I just went to FI's cousin's wedding a couple months ago and they had tons of kids under the age of 5 and they had a blast dancing and were very well behaved the whole time.  Maybe it depends on the kids...
