  To be honest, I didn't find any specific dresses that I liked prior to going to bridal stores.  I looked at magazines to try to narrow down features I liked and didn't like; but even then, when I got to the store, the dresses I tried on were somewhat different from the magazine clips.
  
  My opionion is that it's best to go look in person rather than fixate on a dress you see in a magazine.  You may love it, but you may also not look it in person/on and why spend the time stressing?

  try catherine simms in naperville. way better selection in my opinion than joyful occassion (about 15 mins away).

  I brought my ipad with when i went looking for dresses - i loaded it up with the pictures of dresses i found and liked and told my consultant "these are the styles of dresses I like, if you have these to try on, GREAT! otherwise, do you have any similar?"
  
  It worked out. I bought the 3rd dress i tried on and it WASN'T one of the ones i specifically liked.

  I'm going to have to agree with some of the other posts here.  I looked plenty online and even brought some in that I liked from the store.  We tried a couple of them on and I wasn't wowed by them.  We then tried more with the same style and still was not wowed but then I picked a dress I would have never thought I would pick.  Candace at Bella Bianca picked it for me.  In person and having the dresses on is a completely different experience than seeing a picture.  And now I don't even look anymore at dresses.  Hope you find "the one" though!    Good luck!

  I'm going to have to co-sign the previous posters sentiment.  I originally thought i wanted an antique lace style Monique Lhuillier Scarlet style.  I went the complete opposite direction.
  
  I recommend the boutique I went to, The Bridal Boutique of Naperville.  It is owned by Bonnie and she is the only one who runs it and does appointments.  She does an amazing job at finding your style that fits your body type best.

  Ditto this, 100%!!!!  It took me forever to decide on a dress and I'm glad that I didn't have a particular dress in mind, because I really, really think that would have complicated things even further.  I ended up purchasing my dress from Crystal Bride and have been very happy with the experience.  I also had good experiences at White Satin Bridal in Plainfield (almost purchased a dress there) and at Bella Bianca in Oakbrook Terrace.  Good luck and have fun with your search!

  I don't really have any great suggestions (my suggestion for the Allure dress would have been Eva's in Tinley) but I would say if you really like the dresses, it's worth the effort to find them.

  
  

  While I totally support trying on things you wouldn't think of (and you may well find the dress that way), if you have one of those dresses in the back of your mind, you're not going to want to buy another dress until you try it on!  That happened to me...I had a specific dress in mind and couldn't stop thinking about it -- and after I found it and tried it on, it WAS the one!

  I had a hard time finding a dress as well, like you I have a bunch of dresses picked out.  I actually found my dress at David's Bridal in the Vera Wang White collection. It really wasn't what I was looking for.  You might want to try checking David's Bridal you might find something there. I honestly didn't think I was going to.

  You really need to try them on to find what you like. What it looks like online is never what it looks like on. Make an appointment at a big salon that is in your budget. If the consultant is any good she will pull a dress that you will love. The dress I ended up with I nver would have tried on based on the online photo. I'm not a fan of house of brides what they have a lot of options. Once you found "the dress" you can order it from an salon that carries the designer.

  I, too, had a list of dresses I wanted to try on, but soon realized that none of those dresses looked good on me. My advice is to try on all types of styles even if you think it is not for you.  The dress hanging on the hanger is totally different when you try it on.

  I 100% agree with all the other posts about trying on A LOT of different dresses. I originally thought that I did not want a strapless dress, but knew that I liked ruching. I ended up going to La jolle mode (Oak Lawn), Eva's (orland and tinley) and David's (Orland) I ended up getting my dress at David's which I NEVER expected. Everyone was really nice and accomodating. They have some really nice new styles this season... and easy on the budget
