AW: I got the wife chop!

So I finally chopped my hair off after having long hair for so many years now(I think the last time I had it short was 7 years ago!) I have been wanting to have it cut short for a while now, but wanted to wait until after our wedding then H wanted me to wait until he got back from deployment. I went up to Tokyo yesterday to have it cut and straightened, and it's the best salon I've ever been to. Japanese people are so professional, I should have started going to salons here years ago. So here it is now!

How is everyone? I've been away a lot from TK because H doesn't work that much anymore so we're always out doing fun stuff or stuck with housing appointments. We're finally going to Kyoto this weekend as a celebration for our "half-aversary"(I got this from Sami, lol). Eastern Japan was supposed to be part of our HM but with the huge quake and nulcear crises we had to cancel our trip. I am so excited! I hope all is well with everyone! Smile

ETA: I seem to cannot spell this morning!

OMG I love it sooo cute!! I need to get mine cut soon. I grew it out for the wedding, and I love it long, but I am so ready for a change.

Adorable! I'm a big fan of short hair - I can't even seem to grow it as long as yours. I am trying hard to grow it for the wedding, but I told FI that I'm going to cut it all off before we even leave for the honeymoon!

You are so stinkin cute Kara!!! I Love your new Do! Enjoy your halfaversary!!! haha!

I've been trying to grow my hair out from cutting it before I enlisted.  I tried to keep it short while I was AD mostly because I hated putting my hair in a bun every day.  I used to have really long hair (Like FTL's and super thick & naturally curly) and I miss it alot, but my hair is just in a really bleh phase.  It's a little past my shoulders but it doesn't have any style.. I'm thinking about layers, but I'm afraid I'll end up with "The Rachel".. Ugh..

But really Kara, I love your hair!!!

Thank you ladies! It's definitely a BIG change for me. I still feel weird especially when touching and feeling and now there's nothing to hold on to! I was very excitd to get it done but I also felt really nervous and scared(because it was a security blanket for me too like FTL). When the stylist first cut it and showed me how much hair it was my facial expression was "OMFG" it reallly is all gone! It will take some time getting used to it, but I am so happy I did it!
@Sami: My sister is in the same boat, she was also AD Navy before and kept her hair short then, but now she is trying to get it long again. She's gotten it a bit past her shoulders already, she found a great trick, prenatal vitamins! She had to take them while she was pregnant and she's still taking them now. Her other friends who have gone through pregnancy before her advised her on this. I think layers would look great on you! Just make sure they will be the long kind, have your hair thinned out and get some bangs there! Smile

I have bangs like yours and last time I let the stylist cut them I ended up with blunt straight across bangs and I looked like a second grader.  Granted a second grader with huge tatas, but still... it was terrible.  The girl that used to do my hair before I enlisted is now a SAHM... so I'm trying to find a new one. I hate it, I feel like I'm dating hair stylists every few months.. haha

I want to cut my hair off so so so badly! But I can't until after the wedding. My hair has always been extremely long, past my ribs and FI loves it - but I need a change.
I love your hair - It looks so cute and looks great on you! I second what FTL said - seeing cute hair styles like yours makes me want it off as scared as I am about doing it!

Haa Sami- everytime I move I do an interview with a new stylist.  People think I am crazy but with my naturally curly hair there could be a lot of damage done if they didn't know what they were doing.  Last time I didn't interview a stylist I ended up looking like a muppet and not a cute one!

Anyway, Kara- your hair is too cute!!! I love it!!!

I'm a gambler, so I end up sometimes winning big and sometimes losing bigger.  The thing is, I don't mind hacking my hair off very short (usually, when I'm not trying to grow it out for a wedding).  But yeah, I've gone through a LOT of stylists!  The one I found here is super cheap and VERY talented, but she moved to Savannah back in May.  However, she just moved back!  She charges like $30 for a haircut, $30 for color, and $50 for highlights.  Which is literally half the price of anyone else, and cheaper than even Supercuts here. Yay!  I have an appointment tomorrow for cut and highlights, which I'm so excited for, even though I just dropped nearly $500 on my car, I still need my hair done so I'm just closing my eyes, pinching my nose, and pretending it's not gonna hurt when I get the credit card bill.  I NEED IT!!!!

No judgement from me...haaa!! I will eat PB&J or Ramen noodles to get my hair done.  I love love love my stylist I have right now.  I have been going to her for about 6 years and she gives me great deals.  The H doesn't get it he just rolls his eyes and says a hair cut is a hair cut! HAAA
