Which religion are you affiliated with? Is there a church you attend regularly? I would start with speaking with someone there first. If you aren't looking for a religious ceremony, you probably need to find an officiant that isn't affiliated with a church. Many people have used former priests or JOP.

We used a judge from Wappingers Falls, Raymond Chase. He was great! If you are considering a JOP though you should check him out. The # for the village court is 845.297.6777

Good luck with all your planning!

Jeanne Stark, Hudson Valley Ceremonies. I think it's $250, but I'm not positive... I'd have to check.

I am getting married at the villa as well. my future SIL is actually going to be the officiant of our wedding. She took a course to be an officiant and she did 2 other weddings and her parents vow renewal, a little risky for us but we are trying to keep our ceremony intimate.

Thanks for the help! I'm hoping to have this figured out and booked by sept! @Riss91, i grew up going to a catholic church but.. I now have a todller, and I am getting married at a venue and not in the church, I know it might be hard to find a Catholic priest who would Marry us under those circumstances.

@mrsomar2b...was he able to attend your rehearsal also? was the ceromony religious at all? Im still looking for the magic of it all and being married with Gods love and all the bible talk of how amazing love and marriage is lol

@Shari16... sorry for all the questions.. did they charge you for traveling or extra for the rehearsal dinner too or was the $250 the price for everything??

Thanks again I really appreciate the help!

I'm using Reverend Jim Francek.  He's a former catholic priest and will make your ceremony as religious or not depending on what you are looking for.  He's been great so far.

OP - you wouldn't have a problem getting married in the Catholic Church simply for having a child! But you would have trouble being married at your venue and not at a church, as that is one requirement. Many people use ex-priests as pp have suggested, however those ceremonies are not valid Catholic wedding ceremonies. Just be sure you consider that if you are not married according to the Church, you will no longer be able to receive sacraments (such as communion). Many people do not realize this until it's too late.
