How do you deal with the family drama

We all have our own family drama that we have to deal with when it comes to planning our wedding, I'm sure. I won't go into my own person issues I've been trying to deal with these past few weeks but I will say its hard stuff that my family has had to deal with (or rather doesn't deal with :-p) pretty much my whole life and its making its presence known.

My question is: how do you deal with this??? I was so happy and excited for my wedding and then things happen that just stress me out and make me fear my wedding day and any drama. It's not supposed to be like this. I should be enjoying my engagement but instead I find myself full of worry and dealing with skeletons. I love my FI more than anything and am so happy we are getting married but I can't help but feel this black cloud of family issues that I can't control.

On the plus side of wedding stuff we've been getting a lot done! Transportation booked (trolley!), STDs ordered, honeymoon booked (decided to go for broke and booked Tahiti!!!), hotel block contract on the way and I think I am pretty sure on makeup and hair probably finalize in a week or so

Re: How do you deal with the family drama

  • Like you said everyone has family drama, but all FI and I keep telling each other that so long at the end of the day we are married to each other then everything will work out.
  • Just like Libby sad, we re focusing on the end game. All the family drama we are dealing with is on my side but at the end of the wedding I will be married to a wonderful man and have the love and support of his family and our friends.
  • I am not much help because literally I do not have/ have not had any family drama what so ever. We are paying for everything and both are families are very relaxed so we have not encountered any problems. But like PP's said all that matters is at the end of the day you will be married! Try not to let the stress get to you.

  • Lily - I have enough drama to share with the other ladies on here that don't have any.  I deal with it by just trying to focus on the end.  It will be an amazing day, and at the very end of it all, I will be married to the greatest guy I know.  When that moment comes, I know I won't ever look back and say "I cannot believe my mother said that".

The drama comes with the territory I think and it's so easy to get caught up in the negative but always try to keep fresh in your mind that it's your wedding.  I don't know what kinda drama you are talking about but try to do what you and FI want and focus on you two.  Good luck and you always have a place to vent.
    S'mores. Just S'mores please.
