April 2012 Weddings

Favors?

What are you all using as your favors? I'm back and forth on wanting to do a charitable donation.

We are doing lottery tickets.  $1 lottery ticket for each guest in an envelope that says "we hope you get as lucky as we did".  I'm super excited about them!

I'm doing Hershey's hugs and kisses in mini flower pots.

You don't have to do any favors though. They are not required. A lot of people might tell you not to do charity donations, because I guess some people get offended by certain charities and what they do/believe in or something? Or maybe it's because favors are supposed to be a thank you to your guests and a donation to a charity, while awesome, isn't really a thank you to your guests, you know? If I saw a card saying the B&G donated the favor money, personally would just say oh that's nice, and wouldn't give a hoot.

It's the white stripy ones ones! I guess they are white chocolate? The ones I got are wrapped in pink (for Vday!) but pink is one of our colors, and the kisses are just plain silver, so it works out great.

  • Oh, I never knew they called them hugs!

  • We're having a candy bar, and each seat will have a bag with a note saying something about filling up on sweets on the sweetest day. idk. something cute. I haven't put a whole lot of thought into the tag, can you tell? lol =]

  • We're having a nautical wedding so we're doing salt water taffy!

  • I did a charitable donation. They printed cards that I can put at each place setting that say a donation has been made in lieu of favors. I'm still undecided if I will actually put those out. Either way, the donation is made (that was actually the very first wedding planning thing I checked off my list).
  • We're putting little evergreen seedlings in burlap bags and writing "plant a tree" on the tags (the wedding is on Earth Day). We also considered little jars of honey, since our theme is honeybees.

Try going with something edible. How about Jelly Bellies in little birds' nests? Cake pops? Donut holes? You can also get cute boxes that look like slices of cake, and box up some cake, and assemble them like a cake for the guests to take home. Oriental Trading has some good favor ideas, but their shipping takes a few weeks, so order ahead.

  • We're doing a candy buffet w/ 8 different candies, and small buckets to fill (our wedding is on the beach).  I know it's not a "favor" but we're also providing gable boxes at the end of the reception for guests to take home extra cake & candy.  It's a destination wedding - so we really have no clue what to do with the leftovers.  :)

  • We're doing plantable seed card favors.  Our wedding is more vintage-y, so this doesn't really fit with that, but we figured we're getting married in the spring, and they are a gift that people can enjoy past our wedding date, and (most of the reason why I picked this), we got them on a super sale, so I paid about half of what I had budgeted for favors, which left $$ to buy personalized peanut butter cups to place at the bar.  <---nerdy, but true.

  • We are doing shell leis to go with our Hawaiian theme, they worked out to less than $1 apiece since I got a pack of 72 for $50.  Fiance wanted to have our names and the date on it and had a brillant idea to print up little tags to tie onto the leis.  Of course, fiance will be helping to print up the little tags and tie them onto the leis.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I am getting married in a Barn, so a rustic theme and my family owns an orchard, so I made little jars of jam for each person and going to put a little sticker with our monogram on it.
  • I was originally going to do a magnetic photo booth frame since we have a photo booth at our reception. I know people prefer edibles, but is that still an okay idea?

  • We are having candy on the tables as well as doing plantable seed cards that double as the escort cards.  And everyone will have bubbles, although that's not really a favor, but they can take them home.

We are doing cake pops or cake push pops (loved push pops when I was little).
  • I cant decide between Smores in little gift bag, saying something like, "Sending smore love your way." Or seed packets saying "thanks for helping our love grow."

  • We are thinking of doing lottery tickets also.  That is how he proposed...I scratched off the ticket and underneath it said Will you Marry Me?  So, just seems perfect to give them as favors.
