Haight-Brown Vineyard Express anyone??

Heeeyyy!! FI and I are celebrating our 4 yr dating anni on Saturday and were looking at the Haight Brown Vineyard Express?? Said vineyard is doing a train tour/wine tasting. We've never done something like this before... We're not wine drinkers either, but we're interested in the experience!! We were wondering if anyone had any comments/rants/raves??

Just wanna say congrats Kim and Kim's FI!!! I think I remember reading that it was your dating anni, too!!!

Hi Jenny! FI and I have wanted to take the vineyard express, but haven't tried it yet. We go to Haight Brown though often. It's a really get place. The area is pretty up there also, so I would imagine that it would be fun. Another option would be to drive to Litchfield and have lunch on the green (our favorite place is The Village.... great food, not ridiculously expensive... kinda upscale pub... totally adorable, or Bohemian Pizza... think eclectic biker bar look w/ fabulous pizza... not fancy but an experience in itself). Then I would drive to Haight Brown... it's about 1-2 miles north of the Litchfield green. You can do a wine tasting in their tasting room. Really sweet place. We're all about the full tasting which is wine, cheese and chocolate. That gives you a little more flexibility to do a couple different things and not just be on the train. There's also another really nice (more fancy) restaurant on the green that has a little bit of outdoor seating too... I can't remember the name of it though. It's gotten a lot of rave food critic reviews along with The Village.

I love Haight Brown! That was one of my favorite vineyards on the wine trail! Although, I've only been there for a tasting, I've never been on the vineyard express so I'm no help there. But you'll have a lot of fun! My FI was never a wine drinker either, but after we did the wine trail last fall with friends, he loves it now!

When you get to Haight Brown, you'll go inside and up the stairs to their tasting room, now that it's nicer out they'll also have tables out on the deck as well. They let you keep your wine glass from the tasting (and I love their glasses!) and they also serve some bread and cheese platters if you're hungry at the tasting.

My favorite wines there were the Riesling, Honey Nut Apple, and the Strawberry Bliss. YUM! I also loved the Picnic Red!

i haven't done the express, but i am a huggggge fan of HB! i got married there haha. the wine is DELISH and for the most part the service is great. (the owner has an attitude, but the staff is incredibly nice and helpful!)

i know i got the email about the HB express but i can't remember what it was exactly. honestly, i think i'd do what carrie said...do lunch somewhere else and then just go for a wine tasting. Bohemian Pizza that she mentioned is f'ing amazing...DH and i LOVE it. the village is also great! either way, i'm sure it will be a great time

I'm glad you all had raves about the vineyard!! FI and I are soo excited to try it out! Carrie, I told FI about eating at The Vineyard before the wine tasting and he loves the idea! We've never been to Litchfield so we're hoping for a good experience! (o: Sandra, you should goooo!! And I will sooo try out those wines!! The Honey Nut Apple wine sounds SO yummy!

theres this cranberry apple one they make in the fall that is TO DIE FOR. they might have one or two laying around so you should ask

other good restuarants in litchfield on the green - west st grille, defrancos, aspen garden (my fav)
