Photographer?

Hi Everyone I went from a wedding in a year and 1/2 to a wedding in 7 months. So I need and want to book quickly

Here is what I have narrowed it down to:

Iris Photography http://www.photoiris.com/

Athena Blude http://athenablude.com/

Melissa Deschamp http://www.melissadeschamp.com/

What I am looking for is romantic, candid photos. Not your typical pose, point and shoot. I want someone who is artistic. I am getting married at the Riverview in Simsbury, MA
My first choice Neil Landino is booked. I knew if I took this wedding date some of my favorite vendors would be booked

Who do you like best? Who do you recommend?

Budget: I would like to stay closer to the 2-3k mark. However the first two are closer to 4k

    I am OBSESSED with our photographer. Uplift Photography. She's less well known on the CT board b/c she does a lot of NY/NJ weddings but she's totally worth the $100 travel fee for our wedding. 

    Her style is just as you described. Check out her blog her photos are amazing and she's been awarded a Knot pick for 2011 and 2012. She's also amazing to work with. She's the first vendor I bookeed becuase I knew I wanted her above anybody else!

    I checked the 3 sites and I like photoiris the best.  

    If you feel like checking other photographers, I like:

    Jerome Braga (google him) I always forget his website. 


    Mary and Justin www.justinmaratz.com - If you set up a meeting with them, they will give you a surprise.  I called them and tried to set up a meeting but they were booked.

    We're using Julie at Carla Ten Eyck... The price came in under $3000 (after taxes) for 2 photographers, all day shooting, rights to pictures.  The whole team is so talented... definitely recommend checking out their blog & contacting them to see if anyone is available!  Good luck!

    Jerome is wonderful! We are using him because my cousin had great experiences with him.  My brother recently got engaged and is looking into him as well.  I will warn you, he is on the expensive side but includes a lot in his package and is worth every single penny!

    <div>Be careful about using Carla and her team because she doesn't give the images right away.  I can't remember but I believe she gives them to you after 6months or 1 year.</div>

    I would second the comment on Carla's timeline. She and her photographers tend to take a while. If you are interested check out Eric Brushett at ericbrushett.net I am not sure if he is a romantic as you are looking for, but he truly captures the moment and will definitely be in your price range! Good luck!!

    A girl I work with used Iris Photography for her wedding, and the photos I saw were beautiful. Plus she's very artistic, so she definitely wouldn't pick a low-quality photographer.

    The others that PPs mentioned are great--Carla Ten Eyck, Studio 1923, Mary & Justin. If I could afford Carla, I think I'd book her in a heartbeat! (minus the whole thing about not getting photos until 6 months after the wedding... that sucks.)

    Our photographer is Tim @ TAB Photographic. He's really artistic and photojournalistic, and starts at the low end of your budget. He's worth checking out! www.tabphotographic.com

    My favorite photographer is Kiva Sutton.. Annandalephotography.com.. He is artistic and candid and romantic... Definitely worth checking him out! He travels to Massachusetts with no travel fee! I hope this helps! Congrats on the marriage :) Best, Steff

    I've narrowed it down to two photographers, after finding out that HK was out of my price range.

    David Apuzzo Photography
    Eric Brushett Photography

    I like both, but I haven't sat down with either - I am going strictly off of their websites. David's website seems really professional and high end, but Eric has a lot more work on there.

    Let us know what you end up doing! I also considered Sidney Chang.

    Okay, I know everyone is suggesting lots of different photographers and you probably have plenty of choices now but I couldn't NOT tell you about the couple that photographed my wedding because I think that they are as good as the three that you mentioned in your original post but charge half as much. They are both quite experienced, him more than her, but they struck out on their own recently so I think that is why they don't charge very much.
    They do exactly what you described- romantic, non-posey, candid photography with a creative edge. I LOVED my pictures and they were great to work with.

    Seriously, you could get albums, parent albums, and everything you could possibly want for less than the minimum packages of those three photographers you mentioned.

    We just used Catherine Fiehn her new site (which I am on thank you) is http://www.catherinefiehnweddings.com  She has packages in your budget last I checked and I had my disks back that I could print pics from when I got back from my honeymoon! Most of my friends have had to wait months and the pics where not even as good. Highly recommend her.
