  • Hello and welcome to the board!

We will be of so much help to you and your planning process!  DW's are wonderful and so much fun.  I am of no help with Key West, but I do know we have some Key West brides here that can help you.  And, you might want to try the local Florida board.

    Good luck planning!

  • Welcome to the board! Sorry I'm no help with Key West but I know you'll get some great information here. We quite a few fabulous Key West girls!
  • I'm a KW bride!! Welcome!  these ladies are so helpful here...you've found a great board!

We're having a sunset ceremony on 2/25 on Ft. Zach Taylor beach followed by a reception at Kellys.
  • I am a KW bride getting married July 9 2011! We are having our ceremony at Fort Zachary Taylor and our reception is at the Ocean Key Resort and Spa. We have been to KW about half a dozen times in the past few years and most recently returned from a planning trip in July. I would be more than happy to give you any advice on anything KW. We chose Fort Zach because we wanted a beach wedding, but wanted it private. I highly recommend this if you want your ceremony on the beach over Smathers. Smathers is free and public, but there are tons of weddings every night and you have to compete for a location since you can't reserve it! Fort Zach is a $400-$500 fee but well worth it. We chose Ocean Key because the reception location is on their sunset pier over the water and has an amazing ocean and sunset view. We also looked at the Hyatt, Marriot, and Reach Resort but loved the location at Ocean Key and couldn't pass it up. We have also hired the following vendors if you are looking for some people to google:

    Rehersal dinner: Roof Top Cafe
    Welcome Party: Dante's
Coordinator: Julie Schreck, Simply You Weddings
    Transportation: City View Trolley
    Cake: Key West Cakes
    Flowers: Mama Flowers
    Linens: BBJ Linen
    Steel Drummer: Courtney Henry
DJ: Sound Waves Key West, Jim

    I hope this is helpful!!
  • Oh Yay Key West Brides! I just started checking out the boards this past week and made one post in the South Florida room and didn't have any response.  Happy to see a couple Key West brides here.  Congrats on your Engagement Heather! I'm still in the beginning stages too.
Our ceremony and reception will be held at Old Town Manor Bed & Breakfast.  Their deal is to rent out their B&B for 3 Days with the flexibility to use their property with no time limits or restrictions.  All our guests will be staying there and the B&B next door.  With this property you can hold any and all your wedding events for up to 75 guests.  Runi, the owner, is fabulous and a great help.  I wasn't having much luck finding a spot for our ceremony, so we will be having both the ceremony and reception at OTM.  It's a very Do It Yourself type venue and it was suggested that I at least hire a Day of Planner.  I was thinking I could do it all myself, but have realized in the past few days that it might be well worth it to get some help considering our wedding is February 4th and only have half our vendors set.  I am struggling with what Caterer to use and stay within budget.  I have a couple, but can't decide and still want another suggestion (check out my 1st KW Post, if anyone can assist). I don't know too much about the DJs down there and wouldn't know how to pick one over another, so we just picked one suggested by Runi.  DJ Kevin "Spyder" Wright (w/ Sound Waves Key West) is who we picked, and I've heard that we have made a great choice.  We are bringing our Photographer and a great Musician (Irish singer from one of our favorite pubs) from where we live, Boynton Beach in South Florida.  That's as far as I've gotten, I have researched a lot of vendors so I would be happy to help where I can.

  • Hi! Getting married in Key West, May 28th, 2011.  Just signed a contract with the southernmost to use their property for both the ceremony and the reception! I've heard lots of good things about Southernmost on the Beach, so I am really excited! I've hired a wedding planner from We've Got The Keys, who is pretty awesome thus far!! I'd love to keep on contact with all the keys brides so we can do this together! It's much less overwhelming that way.  Now that I've picked a location and food menus, It's on to picking a spot for a welcome dinner and then photographer, flowers, and cakes!  Congrats on the engagement and enjoy the planning! It's stressful but its tons of fun!!!
  • Hi ladies! I just got engaged in Key West on July 24th and we've decided to get married there too!! We haven't set a date yet but thinking maybe October 2011.  I am hoping to come up with a budget friendly wedding/reception in KW so we can have a larger reception back at home. We think approx 55 people will be coming to KW and I'm having trouble trying to figure out how much all this will cost! Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
  • It is so nice to have other KW brides to talk to! I am going there in two weeks to scope out a ceremony and reception site. I will post more once I have some feedback on a few of the locations. Right now, we have appointments with the Key West Beachside Marriot, Casa Marina, Ocean Key Resort & Spa, and Southernmost Hotel. Any other suggestions that I should definitely see?

    Thanks, Ladies!

  • Hi!  I'm getting married in Key West in June 2011.  We are using Weddings To Go Key West and so far I am very happy with them.  They have different packages available for the ceremony which makes everything very affordable.  As for reception ideas, I could use some myself.  I'm also trying to find out where to go for hair and makeup.  I want the best so if anybody has any suggestions that would be great!

    Congratulations Key West Brides!
  • I am getting married at the La Concha next April.  I am having trouble with chosing a photographer?  Any suggestions?

  • Do not use Soiree Key West. Know before you sign a contract. She cancelled the contract within 60 days of the wedding even thou the contract states neither party can. Soiree Wedding and Planning Services charges for services she is not able to provide. She advertises a stress free wedding with unlimited phone calls and emails. Dealing with Soiree has been nothing but stress. My daughter explained the service she desired and purchased the package Soiree recommended. After numerous attempts of trying to communicate with her (both by phone and email) she does not respond. She never offers an apology for not communicating just excuses of  'it is the busiest time of the year and she has no assistant'. Even thou the contract states an assistant is included she admits to not having one. Once confronted with the contents of the contract her response is 'it is her contract and she can do what she wants to do. She does not have to conform to her contract'. After suggesting that maybe she should limit the number of weddings she accepts she got extremely irate. She prevents the bad reviews by canceling your contract and with holding 20% of the money as hostage and agree to return ½ of that providing you sign an agreement to no negative postings. She charged $42 for a case of bottle water.

</div><div>Hi! How did your planning go with Weddings to go Key West? I am seriously considering them for my wedding on the beach in Key West. We are taking a Carnival cruise out of Galveston, TX in April 2014 with a group of 40 or so. I'm really torn on what to do regarding transportation for the group. I'm not sure if I'll do the "all inclusive" package with Weddings To Go Key West yet because there are a few things in that package I won't get use out of (make up, hair, and a few others) but I know they offer transportation for me free of charge. Since we'll be getting off a cruise ship and going to a beach for our ceremony, I want the group to be able to make it together and in time so nobody misses anything and it's less stress for myself. But I know the cost for 40+ people group travel could get pretty expensive. I've looked into the Old Town Trolley company in Key West. Anyone have any advice on this or been through it? I feel it might be tacky to get off the ship and expect the group (outside of the wedding party) to find their own way there.</div><div>
    </div><div>Thanks!
