No idea how to start...

We have a church (Platte Woods United Methodist)  and a reception place (Black on Burlington)...

I want my STDs and invites and all that to match or at least complement each other... is it easier to use one of the kits and DIY or should I order them?

We are working on a fairly tight budget and need to keep my stationary stuff down to a minimum.... thoughts?

I used American Wedding for our invites.  The total cost was under $700 including tax, delivery, etc.  They looked great, simple but great.  I found it was much easier after attempting to DIY my STDs and wanting to die!  Then again I don't like DIY-ing a lot of stuff myself.  Here is a picture of my invites.  HTH!

If you want to keep your costs down, definitely do it yourself.  After all the materials and such, ours cost about $0.50 each, plus postage for the envelopes and reply envelopes.  I have a couple pics in my planning bio if you're interested.

Kits are great if you don't have time or experience with DIY stuff.  You can jazz them up a lot with ribbons, stamps, embossing, etc if you want.  You might check out the DIY board for some good ideas/inspiration.

    Good luck!

Also, a lot of girls use vistaprint for STD's if they want to DIY their invites.  You can upload your own design if you want, so the colors and feel can coordinate with what you're planning for the invitations.

At the same time, you don't really need to worry a lot about coordinating the two.  Your STDs will go out months ahead of the invitations, and they're generally much less formal.  (Just to put your mind at ease at tad)

Edit:  If you sign up for vistaprint's emails, you get most things for free (you pay like $5 shipping)

We used 123print.com ours were super cheap (under 100 for 100 invites/RSVP's/STD's/return labels). I'm pretty sure that is cheaper than DIY.

We used David's Bridal for our invitations and rsvps. About $100 for 150 invitations and rsvp cards, with my address printed on the back of the outer envelopes and on the rsvp envelopes.

We had originally planned on using a kit, but found that we couldn't find enough of one kind that we liked and that was in our budget. We also looked at the stuff they had at the scrapbooking store on 119th st near Metcalf in Overland Park. They had a  lot of really neat stuff, but very expensive. If we had used them our invitations would have cost at least $10/person, which I thought was pretty extreme for something that is going to be thrown away.

I second Vistaprint.  I got 50 magnets for $17 (25 were free, and includes shipping and the cost for the uploaded picture) then FMIL wanted to add people to guest list so I had to get 25 more.  I just waited until I got an email (which I get about every other day) for 25 magnets.  It cost me $8 in shipping, but I also got 140 return address labels too.

Also, my magnets are sticking to the theme I'm having, but don't exactly match.  I didn't want to commit to a specific invite design a year out from the wedding.

I didn't DIY by invitations or save the dates.  With the number we were sending out it would have taken too long and it would have gotten pretty expensive.  I used Save the date magnets.com for our STD's and I used invitations by dawn for our invitations.  I had a 10% coupon it was about $210 for all of the invitations, RSVP cards, STD's, and my addressed printed on both the RSVP envelope and as the return address.

I did look at Vista Print and they do have a lot of great stuff and some great deals.

I think it only took about a week to 10 days.  I can't remember exactly but I think they offer rush shipping too.

I designed my own, uploaded the images to vistaprint and im having them print them. For 110 invitations, RSVP cards, envelopes for both, and 250 business cards listing our wedding address and designed to match it came to just at $100 and I got free shopping. Vistaprint is the best! If you want something unique hire a graphic designer for a little more, or design them yourself :) Mine are attached!
