Awkward ceremony style..

So last night with our pastor we finished our premarital course and went over the ceremony format. I've been anxiously awaiting this so I was very excited! Everything looks great except for one thing lol...he explained he likes to be something of a ceremony conductor. For the processional he cues people to walk down the aisle by announcing who they are. Like "here are the parents of the groom. Now entering are the bridesmaids" etc. I think this is kinda weird and I don't like the thought at all lol. Makes me think of a host on a game show haha! Announcing everyone and talking during the processional makes the whole thing anti climatic IMO. Anyway I'm slightly frustrated because this isn't like an optional element of the ceremony I can ask him to include or exclude....this is his style and a thing he just always does! I don't know how to bring it up and even FI, the ultimate negotiator, doesn't think there's a way around this. WWYD?

    It never hurts to at least talk with him. Maybe he just has never had anyone say they didn't like it! Tell him you would like a non-narrated ceremony and ask if that is an option. The worst he can do is say no! He won't back out of the ceremony just because you asked, you know?

    Is it common in Ecuador, or will your guests think it's weird, too? What does your FI think?

    I have no idea! I always miss the entrance! And anyway I've only been to 2 weddings here. FI thought it was kind of strange too and proceeded to spend half an hour making jokes about it lol. But I guess he's trying to get over it because he doesn't think there's an easy way for us to bring it up without offending the guy that we don't like his style

    FI has ruined a lot of things that I LIKED doing this because I know the day of I'll just laugh when this happens.

    Like PP said, talk to him and ask him if he can not do that.  I agree it reminds me of a game show!  Like Price is Right or something...

    I agree maybe ask if he can just announce you coming down the aisle or a few main people and not the whole processional.  Just say a lot of your American guests will find it out of place.

    Offer to make "Here Comes the MOB" etc. signs instead? lol

    Hmm, seriously I would try talking to him and go with Michelle's advice on explaining that it would confuse your guests.

    It's your wedding he should listen to your requests. Did he say flat out "this is my style and you can't change it."? Maybe he was just explaining what he normally does and what he likes to do. Personally, I would say something to him and if he doesn't concede I'd ask if there's another person to officiate the ceremony. Preferably one that doesn't have a "conductor" style.

    I think announcing people as they walk in is very awkward. I've never heard of that. Can you tell him that you are planning to make programs with all that information included and see if he will honor your wishes to just let everyone walk in to the music you have chosen?
