Are you asking about particular verses (Matthew 7:21-27) or authors (the Gospel according to Matthew)?  Or songs?

I still need clarification.  By Gospel story, you should be referring to something that pertains to the birth, life, death and/or resurrection of Jesus.  So the story of Adam and Eve would not be in the Gospel, that's the Old Testament.

So do you want my favorite Biblical story?  (I'm partial to Ruth and to Esther, I always like a female-centered story.)  Or my favorite Gospel story?  (I like some of the parables Jesus uses when talking to the Pharisees, that's why I mentioned Matthew 7:21-27.)

Sorry for being confusing :(   I'm a little confused on what they are asking..
I have a paper on topics we will be discussing and one of them is, what Gospel story speaks to you at this time...  If that help any

This is the Gospel reading we used in our wedding:
    Matthew 7:21,24-27

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

I loved the analogy of a good foundation in life.  For H and me, part of the foundation of our marriage is our common beliefs in Jesus and our roles as Christians in society.  It's not a dramatic story, but it's a good life lesson.

E -- Yay!  Gospel reading twins!  ;)  It turns out that it's my priest's favorite passage to read when doing marriage prep and counseling, so he was tickled that I picked it.  H and I thought it was really wedding appropriate and had no idea why it wasn't in the suggested readings book.

We did marriage prep at the parish I belonged to at the time,  but we were getting married by a family friend.  We only met with him twice about the wedding (but saw him a couple of other times at family stuff).   I believe it was in the marriage prep book we were given by my parish.  We liked that it centered on a solid foundation and that's what we had and were trying to build.
