Hand Cancelling Invites

Some help from the DC knotties would be appreciated!! I am going to be sending my invites out this weekend and would like to hand cancel them at the post office. Does anyone know which post offices in the NOVA area allow you to do this? TIA.

The best Post Office - IMO - to get anything done is Merrifield.

It's a processing center also & does high volume so they are ready for anything.

That said, we didn't get anything hand cancelled & shipped from Merrifield & everything arrived as expected.

If you really want hand canceling, you might consider boxing all the invitations up and sending them to the Bridal Veil, OR Post Office for canceling.  Details on doing it are here.  They have lovely wedding-appropriate postmarks, and are very conscientious about your invitations.

The post office in chantilly and the one off 29 in centreville both do hand cancelling - most PO will let you do it, just ask for the stamp and they will let you go off to the side and do it ..

that's funny, there was a post on the may 2011 boards about hand cancelling invites too. i just planned on dropping mine off at the post office and just having them run through the machine as normal, but if they will let you hand-stamp/cancel, then that might be something to consider.

i go to the oak hill post office branch in herndon off of mcclaren road. if you go right after the lunch rush, they are usually pretty empty and quick to get you in and out.
