Tuesday Chit Chat!

Hello!

I'm back to work after a wonderful (despite the rain) four day weekend. Now I just have a 3 day work week before a 3 day weekend :-) So not looking forward to playing catch-up for the rest of the day, though.

What's everyone up to today? Is anyone else as excited as I am for Parenthood tonight? I'm ready to cry my eyes out.

  • Just studying at home today...can't wait for this exam to be over!  I am not quite caught up on Parenthood so I won't be watching tonight but I think every episode makes me cry!  DH has been watching it since the beginning and I just got into it over the last few months.

  • Morning!

I'm super pissed that my work completely blocked FB. They blocked it a while ago but I added stuff to the URL and was able to get in until today.

I'm trying to get through this work day and then we have our desk Christmas party tonight which should be a good time! I'm the only girl on my desk nowadays so I'm bringing my BFF/MOH with me.

  • Morning.  I'm at home today after essentially food poisioning, and since our event ended yesterday.  The good news is, I get to keep my job!  M starts his new job (finally) tomorrow.  Nothing super exciting since he's still waiting on paperwork to go through, but this is an improvement over him being paid to sit at home for the past three weeks.  He's finally had enough of that.

Morning everyone!  I never heard of Parenthood before, do they have past episodes on Netflix?  I'm dying to get hooked onto to some new shows since I was a reality junkie for a long time.  The only show I religiously watch so far is American Horror Story.

rdr-sucks about FB!  Where I work, one part of the hospital has free wifi for the patients, guests, etc so we were able to go on FB from our phones or computers since cell phone reception was horrible.  Then I got moved to the basement of the original hospital and no cell phone reception, wifi, NOTHING!  I was dying!

About a month ago, wifi was installed I feel so much better lol.  Our work computers block every website and god forbid you're on websites like walmart or stop and shop they'll block you from that assuming you're "shopping"

Peek-that's awesome about the job situation for you guys!!!!!!  Sorry about the food poisoning though I hope you feel better :(

This week is going to be busy for me.  Tonight is the calm before the storm.  No Zumba class, and I'm baking dinner for bf so he'll have food for the rest of the week he can just heat up.  I have three Christmas parties the next three days.  Saturday we are going to buy supplies for the new puppy dog (when we pick him up he'll be a year old that day), go and get some stocking stuffers for bf and a gift for his mother and make some more cookie dough so that all I'll have to do is bake cookies the week after that.

    ETA-didn't see peek's post---sorry!!!

  • Good morning, ladies! Traffic was really bad this morning so I got to work late but, I got my coffee now so it's better. Laughing

I think I may start wrapping gifts tonight. I barely slept last night so I may have zero energy to do anything when I get home home.

  • Peek - sorry about the food poisoning - that absolutely sucks.

Buddysmom - I think you can watch old episodes on NBC.com. Check it out!

LaSak - That's so funny that your BF has been watching it longer than you. I don't think it's meant to be a guy-show at all, but my BF is into it now too! I mean...I don't think he'd necessarily watch it if I wasn't home, but he seems to enjoy it when we watch together :-)

I finally got SOME gift shopping done. I bought my youngest sister two pretty charms for a Fossil charm bracelet my mom bought her - one charm is a horse shoe and the other is a light blue vespa. I also bought BF cozy sweatpants and a long-sleeve thermal shirt from AE (my little sister works at Aerie so she gets a big discount). I thiiiink I'm going to get my mom a down comforter since I know she really wants one, and maybe a bag for my other sister, and we're going to bake cookies for all of BF's family.

Buddysmom - I need to do what you're doing and make all my cookie dough in advance. I always try to do all my baking within a day or two and it takes forever. I'm 99% sure I'm getting a stand mixer for Christmas, but I could REALLY use it now!

  • Hummingbird-my mom has been freezing cookie dough for years so that's all I know!  We'll see how the whole baking thing goes.  I'm getting a stand mixer (the pink one) for Christmas too from my parents, but I asked if they could fed ex it early.  Don't think it's happening lol.  I do use the kitchen aide hand mixer and it works pretty darn good if you're looking for something in the meantime.

  • Mom mom told me she was getting me a Kitchenaid mixer this Xmas, but considering how expensive they are, I definitely don't want to assume I'm getting it! I should definitely go out and buy a cheap electirc hand mixer though, I'm sure it will make some things a lot easier. I'm going to have to do two baking days this year - one with my BFF and little sister on Long Island a few dyas before Xmas, and the other sometime next week so we have time to mail out packages of cookies to BF's parents and three sisters. Since those will all be for his family, I am determined to make BF my kitchen slave that day.

  • I miss you guys!  I just got the word from the professor of my stats class that I don't have to take the final :)  So that's pretty nice.

My students get to take their final tomorrow.  I really hope they do well because their current grades aren't that stellar and I'm not allowed to curve the grades...(ethically, I wouldn't want to curve the grades either.  I'm not passing you if you want to be in healthcare unless you actually did the work and understand it)

I've been making and eating cookies for like 3 weeks.  Christmas is fantastic.  I better fit in my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding lol

  • Morning ladies!   I'm not fully recovered from Vegas shenanigans this weekend and I think my old lady body dislikes me for it.  Oops.  At least is was fun!

Tell me more about Parenthood?  I don't think I've ever seen an episode.  I'm wondering if I should.

peek- feel better and yay to job news!

steign- I'm the same way when I get home, but I blame my couch for sucking me into its comfortableness and not letting me out.  It's like it doesn't want me to do anything but sit there.

I'm just about to put my roast in the crock pot but I have to go peel potatoes and I don't want to.

They are shutting off our water for 4 hours today but the apartment management couldn't be bothered to tell us til yesterday?  Does that seem odd to you guys?

I have a German final in two hours but I'm not worried.  I do have to write another paper today.  I'm over papers.

Rdr- that sucks about Fb.  Can you get it from your phone?

Blue- yaya for no stats final.  I'm glad you've come back.  I've missed you.

Ha, all the O2 pumped into the casinos and clubs led myself and my liver to party like we were 21 again.  I then got on the plane and realized I'm way older than 21.  So I'm guessing I'm on a similar recovery plan and will feel normal right around Christmas.

  • rdr- that sucks when work blocks stuff. FB has always been blocked but recently they blocked any online music too, like pandora and they recently blocked pinterest too.

I came into work today despite feel really crappy still.  I have so much stuff to get done here at work too.  I can't wait until 4 so I can go home and rest.

Just got back from Kaya's first trip to the dog park. We wanted to take her during the afternoon when it wouldn't be too busy. We were the only people there, and were about to leave after 20 minutes, when a woman showed up with a fluffy little white dog. We decided to stay and I'm so glad we did - Kaya and the white dog, "Jeter", raced around like crazy and had so much fun playing together! It was the first time she's really been able to play with another dog since leaving her brother and sister! Now, she is passed out sleeping in her bed, and probably will be for the next few hours. • I wish we had a little more action around here, lol.  I'm usually able to catch up on chats way after the fact so I feel a little dumb chiming in :)  This week is finals week, so I'll be back for a little.  Then gone for Christmas/the sister's wedding.

LUCKILY, my spring semester looks a lot less hectic :)

Don't worry, I'm not engaged yet so you didn't miss much :)  My sister may or may not have killed me if we got engaged while she was engaged (she's getting married like 5 months after getting engaged cause her hubs-to-be is military and has like zero availability lol)

  • I spent the morning stressing over my web final.  I got everything done but the ftp upload/live site testing.  My internet REFUSED to work.  My service provider said it was fine, I did everything but bash the modem in.  I called my husband and he described a EXTREMELY detailed and complicated sequence of things I had already done (like plugging the modem into the main line, for example) and MAGICALLY it works.

So finally it's done, I emailed the hard copy files and live link to my professor, but in the meantime, my heat kicked on and I was so focused/stressed I didn't notice I was sweating profusely.

So I showered and ate a protein bar and I feel light and unencumbered.  Now I just have to decide what to do next.  Every moment of my day has been planned til now.  I had an interview last week with a portrait studio for a photographer position but I'm still waiting to hear back on that.
