Afterparty Location?

I haven't been able to decide on a main hotel to recommend to our guests simply because I can't seem to find one with a bar open past 11 PM. We had originally envisioned leaving Gibbet Hill at midnight (when our reception ends) and continuing drinks at our hotel to keep it nice and simple.

Anyone know of any hotels in Westford or Devens or close to Groton, MA that have a bar in their hotel (and will be open past midnight)?? Thanks ladies :)

Re: Afterparty Location?

  • DId you check out Westford Regency? I'm not sure what time the bar is open until, but my reception is going to be there. It's worth a shot to check.

  • I actually checked it out, love the hotel...but it closes at 11 PM :( Best I've gotten so far is 12:30 AM closing (hotel in Nashua). UGH!

Check the Radisson in Nashua also, 25 min away (they would go down Rt 40 till the highway, then be on highway for 5 min, it looks like an old castle, tudor style I went to a wedding a few years ago near there and we stayed there and their bar was open really late I remember, if  Wesford Regency or Marriot doesn't. Devens has nothing it's an old military base. Ayer is a sh*thole to put it nicely. Also check Radisson in Chelmsford...
Actually edited to include: we got married at Harrington Farm in Wachusett and stayed at Four Points Sheraton in Leominster which would be down Rt 2 about 30 min kinda far but that's how far we traveled coming from the other direction, bar was open "really late".

  • Hi @snoangel! Surprisingly the Radisson's bar closes at 12 :( I'll check out the Chelmsford Radisson though!
  • Poop. 12:30 for that one :(
  • Ah just saw your edited message. I checked the Four Points Sheraton...if you're talking about the Gazebo Lounge, that closes at 12:30 AM as well. This seems to be a next to impossible task!
  • If all else fails stay in Westford on 110 at the Regency and there's a British Beer works, Chili's, 99, Bamboo restaurants all on that road that all have bars... BBW is open till 1am.

The Outlook at Nashoba is open till 2am... people can stay right down the road at the Regency or Marriott. That would be the latest you would find I think there's some rule that bars only stay open till 2am at latest. Call just to make sure but it's on their website, and it has a bar atmosphere.
Edited to add: I know you said you were unsure about asian food for rehearsal but I think Bamboo also has Japanese not just Chinese. I don't think they have Hibacci but their steak/ chicken teriyaki with veggies is amazing!

  • We might just have to say that anyone who wants to join us in an afterparty, meet us at a closeby restaurant/pub. If thats the case, I'm stuck between choosing a hotel in Westford vs Nashua. My guests are mostly from out of town...which do you think would be a better experience for them activity-wise?
  • Nashua has more things to do (restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, and bars), but bars close in NH at 1am with last call at 12:45, and bars in MA close at 2am with last call at 1:45. So if going to a bar after your wedding is really important, you would have to stay in Westford. Hope that helps!
  • I agree with above poster, the hotels in Westford are so close to the highway, if they are staying there, they hop on the highway and will be in Nashua in 20 min if they want to shop/eat etc. the following day or the days before your wedding.

  • OK gotcha. I think we'll go with Nashua and skip the afterparty. Our reception is until midnight, I'm sure we'll be exhausted by then anyways!! :)
  • We are also getting married at Gibbet Hill and ran into the same issue, I was really disappointed about the 11PM close time at the Westford Regency! We may end up extending our reception an additional hour.

  • I know I'm late to answer, but I just wanted to add that our reception ended at 11am and the hotel bar also closed at 11am. Instead of renting space in the hotel's ballroom for the afterparty or find a local bar and have people drive, we decided to host it in our suite. You can also rent a suite specifically for the afterparty if you don't want guests in your special space :) All of our guests were pretty respectful and stayed til 2am, and our last few guests helped us clean up! :) Oh, and we had about 70% of our wedding guests stay over, and about half came throughout the night to the afterparty!
