5/6

What would your dream bridal shower be?  I don't want one, but I'm planning some stuff for my FSIL's shower in September and I need ideas.  Where would it be?  What would the theme/colors be?  From showers you have been to in the past, what were your favorite favors and games?

I've only ever been to one shower, and it was a bit over the top for me. It was held at the same venue the engagement party and wedding reception were held (for the same couple), there was abotu 40+ people there.

I like cute finger foods. Fun games are the clothes peg one where you can't cross your legs. We did a wedding word unscramble, kinda boring. I like games that make people mingle.

I have no expectations for a shower, I doubt I will have one, either way, I don't care if I do.

  • The only bridal shower I remember is my cousin's from 9 years ago lol. One of the activities was to make up new lyrics about the couple to the tune of a song you drew out of a bucket- this was a group activity of course :-)

    I second booze.

Unfortunately I have never been to a bridal shower due to the fact that most of our friends went to the courthouse and got married but I second what PP said that game does sound like fun... I don't think I am having a bridal shower unless my MOH surprises me but either way I really don't care...

  • Oh ladies, there WILL be booze even if I have to bring my own flask! Haha!  But seriously, it's going to be a very long day with my FSIL- her bridal shower and bachelorette party are going to be the same day.  LOTS OF BOOZE NEEDED!

  • My FMIL had one for me last weekend as more of a welcome to the family type of event.  She had it at a tea house type place where we were served tea and baked goods/tea sandwiches.  It was very nice and relaxed...there weren't any games but she had all the guests write down an inspirational quote/bible verse on an index card for me to look at when feeling any type of stressed during the year of planning for the wedding.  It was sweet and a very intimate gathering with close family/friends.

</div><div>Aww that sounds really nice!  I wish I could plan something like that for my FSIL, but she and her mother want this huge affair at this restaurant with 80-90 people invited... it's getting a little out of control.  It sounds like you and your FMIL have a good relationship, which is awesome.</div><div>
</div><div>For the favors, I'm thinking about getting mini bottles of wine, putting cute lables like "blushing bride", "white wedding" and "red reception" on them, adding some ribbons to the top in her wedding colors and wrapping them in plastic with some candies.  What do you guys think?  I think you can get those little bottles of wine at costco, which would save some money and I'll put my FI in charge of creating the labels.

  • The bridal showers I have been to were all at catering halls and I thought they were super lame... I hate catering halls with a passion. I would love my bridal shower to be outside and have a garden party theme. That would be so cute. My mom asked me recently what I would want and that's what I told her. I also asked her if we could have the guys be there but she said no... I want FI to be there with me :(

  • I've been to showers where there weren't any guys except the FI.  In fact, I can't remember a shower where the FI didn't make an appearance.

  • JMC that is so sweet of your FMIL to have held that for you.

Mel I threw the booze in because of who the shower is for ;). You are going to go down in sainthood I tell ya. :)  I LOVE the idea of the mini wine bottles.

I have to say I dont think I have been to a single shower where the FI was there (just showed up at the end to collect presents). I have been to a jack and jill where its a co ed type shower. My FMIL threw one for FI's brothers wife and they had this game where she had on apron with all different household untensils on tackd to it. She walked around with it on and you got a quick look and had to see how many you remembered. That was cute. And of course shower gift bingo. I have been to a hall, a restaurant and a home for showers. ( I think I have been to more baby showers then wedding showers lol)

  • I have always loved the idea of having a mimosa bar if the event is a brunch or early-ish lunch. You basically have different juices and fruits to add and of course the champagne lol. But I don't know if you are leaning towards heavier booze for the shower or just for the bachelorette part. Entertainment/gift wise for the shower I've seen a couple times the lingere line for different occasions. It's cute and funny once you start going down the reason for each of the panties that are attached to the clothes line. HTH! Good luck!

I would love a brunch shower.  I love brunch.  I love the food & mimosas & bloody mary's can't be beat!

I was just at a shower a couple weeks ago.  They had a "what's in your purse" sheet on the table for each guest.  Certain things were more points & the person at each table with the most points got to go up and choose a basket of goodies that the bridal party had made up.  It was really cute.

Also, at a shower I went to in November, the bridal party gave the bride a really cute basket with a bunch of wine & they were numbered based on when the bride & groom should open & drink the bottles & they came with THIS poem.  I thought this was sooooo adorable!

  • Oh I love the wine basket thing!

  • I would love a bring your favorite bottle of wine and your favorite recipe.

I went to a shower where they had a wine tasting and then all the recipes went into a book for the bride to keep. I would love this since I am horrible at cooking!
