Help! Planning a destination wedding to Chicago

Hi! I got engaged in Chicago in October and want to get married there next year as I LOVE the city. One catch - I live in Ireland! We are estimating we will have around 50 guests on the day so I have 2 questions.
  • Hoping you can help me find a really brilliant wedding planner who will help us organise our day from a distance? I work in events so I am really particular and want a planner who will put their all into our big day without charging the earth!
  • Secondly, looking for venue suggestions in Chicago for around 50 people. We are thinking March for our wedding and will probably need a second venue (probably an Irish bar) for a late night party!
All suggestions would be greatly appreciate! x

Check out Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro for your after party.  Whether you have an event in the private upstairs or just do dinner and drinks in the public restaurant/bar part, the food is delicious and the place is very nice yet relaxed.

  • I would suggest Five Grain Events for your wedding planner - I used them for my wedding last July and Joan was amazing.  She has several other girls who work for her as well.

Check out their website - they have lots of venue suggestions as well.

  • I am currently using Lauren from LK events. She is great and has done plenty of destination weddings.

  • I would highly suggest Cindy from Crafty Broads. I think she is amazing as a planner and coordinator.

For a venue, what kind of vibe are you looking for?
  • Hi there!  I recommend Barbara with Just Say Yes Events.  She is my day of coordinator, but she is amazing and if I needed a full blown planner I would hire her in an instant.

For your wedding venue - what are you looking for?  What style/theme?
  • I highly recommend Anthony Navarro from Liven It Up. He has been so fabulous so far. Extremely detail oriented, super responsive...Love Him!!

For that many guests A New Leaf would be perfect! It's in a great neighborhood. So, cool, different. Take a look! And Anthony does tons of weddings there every year.

If we had a smaller guest count we would have considered it. Awesome exposed brick inside. Cute patio outside!
