Winter Wedding with Hawaiian Food? Yay or Nay?

So we are getting married this coming January, in the snow at a large cabin at a nearby mountain.  We've met with at least 6 caterers at this point.  Most were either too expensive or if they weren't too expensive than they would later decide they didn't want to do the hour long drive to the mountain.  I finally was referred to a friend of a friend who does catering on the side with her husband.  They also conveniently live like 20 minutes from where our Wedding will be!  We found out too that they will be a fraction of the price of what other's were quoting us.  The main catch is...because there's always a catch...they do mainly Hawaiian food.  Which at first sounded great to me and my fiance because we love Asian food.  They suggested sushi and satay's with peanut sauce etc.  Then we came up with also having pulled pork, tempura, salad rolls, and wontons.  So yummy.  But then I began to think...is it odd to have that sort of food for a winter wedding?  To set the scene a little, the house is surrounded by trees.  There will be multiple feet of snow and hopefully snowing as well.  The wedding will be at like 3 or 4 so early evening.  Maybe I'm just over-thinking it, but I think Hawaiian food and nice warm weather.  What do you think?  And do you think my guests will think it's strange?

It's a wedding...not a theme park!  If the food is fabulous and you like it...why not???  Personally...I like to be surprised  :)

I don't see anything wrong with your food choices...  It sounds yummy!!  Your food doesn't have to match your wedding theme.  As long as the food is good, your guests will happy!!

You're overthinking this.  People don't eat Hawaiian food in the winter?  Really?
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

I eat Hawaiian food/Asian food year round.  But when you've met with as many caterers as I have they really push serving what's in season blah blah.  And also coordinating cold weather and the environment with the food.  I like it or I wouldn't have picked it.  But others have pointed out that it doesn't really go.  So I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something people wouldn't like.

That sounds absolutely delicious.  I know some people insist that the food has to match the season... but I think those people also have a stick up their bums!

Hawaiian food is delicious and fairly unique for a wedding.  I bet your guests will be very excited to have something other than baked stuffed chicken and mashed potatoes =)

I also think it sounds delicious!  And I definitely don't associate that type of food with any particular season.  Yum!  I wish we could afford sushi!

I'm pretty sure that people in Hawaii don't stop eating between December and February.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

People like good food.  Period.  I would recommend you taste what the caterer has to offer and, if it is good, go for it!!
