Louisiana-Baton Rouge

New to the knot and to the town

EmbarassedMy name is Erica and been engaged since May.  We recently moved from Pittsburgh PA to Lafayette LA (been here about a month). With some nudging from the inlaws we have moved up our wedding from in 2012 (fiance will have graduated then) to this summer.  Needless to say I am completely overwhelmed. Not knowing the area and not knowing and local brides is making my search for a wedding venue incredibly hard. I was just wondering what venues people have chosen in the Lafayette and Baton Rouge area and what they think of them.  We are looking at quite a small wedding and reception (under 75 guests) and trying to do it as cheaply as possible.  Any ideas would be a godsend.  Thank you!

Hi - I'm not familiar with places in Lafayette, but there is a place in Baton Rouge that might be perfect for you. I am a photographer and I have two weddings booked for weddings that are being held there, each are having about 75 guests. It's called The Gatehouse. Here is their website: www.stage1gatehouse.com. I also have a couple pictures of The Gatehouse on my website (www.sarakelley.net).

Also, if you are looking for wedding photos on a budget, please check out my website (www.sarakelley.net). I am just getting into wedding photography and I am running a $500 special for the first 10 couples to book their weddings with me. The information about the special is on the Wedding Prices page. I already have a couple of spots booked, so if you are interested, please let me know.

    Thanks!!!

I am getting married at the Gatehouse, and it's the perfect size for 75-100 guests. They also include cake, catering, DJ, a hostess... and they give you recommendations for other vendors, they do all the setup and cleanup....... and I think we're coming in at under $6k for everything the Gatehouse includes.

The only things I needed were a dress, a photographer (Debbie WIlliams Photography), a florist (Billy Heroman's Flowerland), and an officiant (family friend).

Everything else is done for me. I would definitely suggest contacting Christy or Laura at the Gatehouse for more info. They'll give you a tour and it's a lovely little property.

There are many places in Lafayette, I am helping plan my son's wedding and we have looked at a few.

Let me know if you want a place that does most everything or if you want to bring in your own food and such.
