Ready for the Name Changing Process..... Any advice?

Wedding and Honeymoon is behind us and what a great time we had!

Now off to the fun stuff.... (sarcasm).... Kinda intimated by all this name changing stuff but I want to get it over with. Any words of encouragment or advice from brides who have been there, done that?

Thanks!

I can't remember where you are at - but the advice I got was that if you're in sacramento - go to the social security office on Folsom Boulevard because they are quick and no one is ever there.

I know you can download the ss forms online from the social security administration website.  fill out the form and take it with a copy of your marriage license (and possibly birth certificate) to the office.  Once you get that done you can go to DMV and get your new driver's license and then from there you can contact your banks, creditors, benefits coordinators, etc with your ID or marriage license to change all those.

    Good luck!

<div>Ditto. I was in and out in 5 minutes. If you want to bring your old SS card, they'll shred it for you. I got my new card about a week and a half later. </div><div>
</div><div>The DMV is the DMV...there always seems to be a line, but once it's your turn, the process is simple. Just be sure to have a copy of your marriage license. You'll also get to take a new photo to go with your new last name. </div>

Make sure you order a couple of copies of your marriage certificate and go to the social security office first. I didn't make an appointment. I went on a weekday and it was fine.
