Hair and Make-up

I'm booked to get married in May, and have paid my deposit to Glamsquad to do my hair and make-up (the chapel amongst others recommended them). However since booking everywhere I look there are bad reports (TA etc), i normally don't wear alot of make-up so I want something quite natural although I do want to look as good as I can.....

I'm getting a bit concerned if I have made the right decision, I dont mind loosing my $25 deposit, I'm more concerned about looking beautiful on the day, any idea's or recomendations? x

  • Do you have a Sephora near you?  Or a Clinique counter in your local department store?  Oftentimes, you can book makeover tutorials with them, and they'll show you how to do your makeup.

Of course, if you buy the products they use, at times it can be just as expensive or more than paying someone to do it.

    Good luck :)

  • I can't even attempt to do it myself....i'm not very good at all with make-up and want to look fabulous on the big day, so was looking for other companies that do it, i've found a few  names  such as Lori J white, Francesca Lombardo etc,  just cant decide what to do.

  • Can you do a trial make up application with your artist?  That way you can go over what you like even before the wedding.  If you think it is too makeup heavy, ask them to tone it way down for the wedding.

<div>Yep I agree.  I had a natural look, I think most brides go natural perhaps playing on one feature like eyes or lips.  </div><div>
</div><div>I would take pictures of looks you like to the trial and see what happens.  If you don't like it keep looking.  I would do this ASAP as May is a big wedding month.  </div>

Definately schedule a trial ASAP if you're seing bad reviews.  If the reviews aren't about hair/MU quality but are instead things like - they rushed through us on wedding day, were late, didn't come prepared, didn't replicate trial at all, subbed in other artists without notice etc - I'd forget the trial and your $25 and find someone else ASAP.

I'm using Francesca and I agree with PPs. It might be worth it to get a trial done so that you can tell her what you want on your big day and you can see how it will look beforehand.

  • Get a trial done.  That is the only way to determine whether or not you will like their work.

  • Unfortunately we are travelling from the UK and I wont have time for  a trial (we are going to the canyon for a couple of days before the wedding), I have got a scrapbook of pictures of make-up that I like, so i'll bring them along with me.

I have contacted other artists including Francesca, Lori J White and Amelia C, they all seem to have good reputations....so the decision is proving a bit difficult, I suppose it comes down to personal choice!! - I dont think I had this much trouble choosing my dress!! haha.

I'm having a hair-trial done in UK by my own hair-stylist who is going to take some photo's of my hair done, so this should help.
