  Keep looking around cd, my photographer is talented but young/starting out and was less than $1,000 including travel fee, includes the CD, and doesn't lock you into a package of prints you can get whatever you want or take the CD to a camera shop where it's good quality prints but cheaper.

  Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

  We are doing something similar. A good friend of ours does photography as a hobby and she and her friend are going to do our pictures for us. We are saving so much money that way! We are just going to make sure we give them a list of all of the shots that are important to us so we don't miss out on something a professional would have gotten.

  We haven't put a deposit on a photographer, but I have my heart set on one. She's about $895 and has everything we were looking for. So hopefully our personalities match when we set up an appointment.

  I have a friend who s a photographer who warned me against using someone you know.  They said their objectivity is skewed and their focus may be more distracted.
  
  After reading up on the Knot and some other sites from brides who went that route, I am going for someone I don't know personally :P  Everything I saw about using a friend was a bad thing
