Hello Seattle Knotties :)

Hi! Im kathleen, and it's my first time on this Seattle board, but I am planning a trip to Seattle for me n DH's 1st Anniversary and need info!

We have Fri-Mon for our mini get-away, and we would like to go to Seattle but also visit Victoria and Vancouver in Canada. WILL THIS WORK FOR JUST ONE DAY TRIP? I really  wanna go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver! =)

Also any other tips/must-see in Seattle or Victoria?? Any suggestions will be appreciated! :)

TIA!!!

Victoria and Vancouver in one day is a lot of time spent in cars/trains/boats for just one day. It's two and a half hours from Seattle to Vancouver, and then the Vancouver<->Victoria ferry is 90 minutes each way. If you really wanted to see both maybe you could take the last ferry to Victoria, stay the night, then ferry to Vancouver mid morning, and get back late the next day, but even then unless you guys really enjoy reading/playing cards/listening to your iPods on boats and trains it will feel like you're travelling a lot and sight seeing less.

If you drive to Vancouver, take the truck crossing (link), it usually moves faster. If you take the Seattle<->Victoria ferry I would make reservations for high tea at the Empress Tea Room.

    Have fun!

Agreed.  Victoria AND Vancouver are a bit much for one day.  Either/or would probably be okay (although, IMO, even Vancouver is a bit much for a day trip...Victoria's a pretty nice day trip though).

In Seattle, I highly recommend taking the underground tour.  It's a lot of fun.  Also, if you want a fun neighbor to wander, look at local shops, eat good food, etc. I recommend either lower Queen Anne (it's right by the Space Needle) or Fremont.  Both are a lot of fun.

I agree, Seattle, Victoria and Vancover are not doable in a day trip, but I like Nick's suggestion.

I recommend riding the Ducks and visiting the Pike Place Market.

Yup, agreed that all three in a weekend and you will feel like you didn't really get to see anything and spent all your time in transit.

Victoria - I second tea at the Empress, it's LOVELY (although quite pricey). If you don't want to go that pricey, then less formal but still quite tasty is Murchie's who makes really super great teas. Victoria also has lots of fun and lovely shops.

Seattle - ditto the Underground Tour. It's fun and you learn quite a bit about Seattle's really interesting history. The classics then also include browsing along the rest of the Waterfront and visiting Pike Place Market. Those three things can easily be about 2/3 of a day.

Diddo PP that all 3 is a bit much.  But if you wanted to do just Victoria you could take the walk on ferry, Victoria Clipper, which leaves right from Seattle otherwise, you have to drive a bit to take the drive on ferry.  I would recommend staying in Vancouver a night if that is where you want to go or like PPs said - you'll spend majority of the day traveling.

In Seattle - the Argosy dinner cruise is fun and yummy.  My favorite thing is the Underground Tour, its a side of Seattle you never hear about.  If you decide to spend all of your time in Seattle and like the outdoors - I recommend a picnic at Snoqualmie Falls.  There is a 1/2 mile hike down to the bottom and its a great/romantic spot.  There is a lot of park space to eat and some little shops as well.
