Buying a dress?

So my mother has offered to pay for my dress, I live in fl but wedding and family is in wisconsin...she wants me to come home to pick out the dress....I'll only be able to come to town for a week at the end of july and I'll have appointments with basically every other vendor while im there..how in the world is she expecting me to pick out my dress in one visit!?

    Well that's weird.  I think this is something you need to discuss with your mother though.

    I agree with PPs.. Discuss with your mother, maybe she has an idea for shopping or a trip to a big city near by for shopping. Ask if she would mind if you went shopping where you live to get ideas. I did that right after I got engaged. I was living in a different state at  the time from everyone and wanted to get ideas. I went with a few friends and came up with my list of dresses I liked. I had about 7 I wanted to show to my mom and family to get their ideas. I am sure any dresses you like would be at one of the local shops near your mom. You could always call and see if they do when you go. Take a day and maybe go shopping with her in between meeting with vendors. You could probably buy in FLA and then bring it with you for the wedding.

    Is there anyway your mom can make a weekend out of it and come down to YOU in Florida and maybe you can have already done some looking around so this way you have narrowed it down?

    I agree, ask if your mom can come to you at least. Especially if you're going to need alterations you'd have to have the dress shipped to you instead of the store and a lot of bridal stores will do alterations at a cheaper price if you buy there.

    I'd check out the stores where you live to get an idea and call the stores near your mom to find out if they carry the same ones?
