So, what do you drive?

I was raised in a family where cars were like other kids in the family. At one point, we had 11 of them between my parents, my brother and myself. My father is an avid drag racer and we have all raced something at some point.

So.... what do you drive? What color is it? Do you like it?  What does your FI drive?

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Z71. Its maroon, and I'm obsessed with it, but its kind of a bittersweet love for this truck. I was in a bad accident with my old truck in November, and was able to buy this one with the insurance money from the accident. Before my old truck was taken by the insurance company, my FI pulled one of the door badges off and gave it to me to remember it by (needless to say, I cried when I saw that). It now resides in my new truck's glovebox. Fi drives a black 1997 Chevy Suburban affectionately dubbed "The Redneck War Wagon." It has tons of light and antennas on it because he's a fireman and feels strongly about telling people to get outta his way when he's going to a call.

i have a 2003 toyota camry that i received as a present on my 16th birthday (it was 1 year used at that time). my dad completely surprised me! i was leaving the house that morning to go take my driver's test and he had it sitting there with a big sign and a bow.

it's catalina blue, which looks like this: http://imganuncios.mitula.net/2003_toyota_camry_jersey_city_nj_94587405402475054.jpg

i love my little car and i plan to drive it until it dies, which i am hoping will be another 5-10 years.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

Right now FI and I only have one car between us, its a greenish gray coloured 05 Pontiac G6. After the wedding we're looking at getting a second vehicle. I have been eyeing up an 08 Acadia after driving one  that FMIL had on loan. I LOVED it and it would be big enough if we were heading north to family to have the dogs in their crates in the back and still have a second row of seating for kids (seeing as we're already in the adoption process figured that should be a consideration lol).

I drive a 2001 Silver Mercury Sable.  It's a spare car that Ed's parents had and weren't able to keep at their primary residence.  I call it the Silver Fox.  We're planning to trade it in (with his parents' blessing, of course) after the wedding and get something newer and more fuel efficient.  It's a total beast on gas.  Before the Sable we were car free for a year after I junked my 2001 Chevy Malibu when it needed some major repairs that I didn't think were worth paying for.  It was easier to live car-free in our old neighborhood, but a little tougher now that we're on the outskirts of the city.  Do-able, but not ideal.  That's why we've got the Silver Fox!

Ed doesn't drive, and it's a little bit of a sore spot.  He never learned!  He got his learners permit last fall, but hasn't been behind the wheel at all.  He was planning to take lessons, but our money has been sucked up by our wedding and his brother's wedding.  We're supposed to go out on Saturday so he can get some practice.  We'll see how that goes!

Everyone I know who bought one loves them!

I forgot to add: My 1976 Chevy got dropped off last night! We spent hours afterward just gawking at it. Total truck dorks. :p

I drive a 2005 VW Golf.  It's dark blue.  I like it okay, but it rides really low and bottoms out SO easily.  I also have had terrible luck with dings and such, so it's a bit beat up.  From the very first day when the dealership I bought it from accidentally knocked off the driver's door (they fixed it, but I didn't think to ask for money back since it devalued my car immediately).

We're going to replace it pretty soon-ish with a Toyota Highlander.

I drive a 2011 Nissan Rogue.  It's small enough to fit into San Francisco parking spaces, and large enough to fit my rottweiler and pitbull mix and still have space for my crap !!  :)

I have an 03 Accord.  It was my older brothers then mine when he went to school then my younger brothers when I went to college, then mine again when I moved back from college haha.  It is hanging in there like a champ despite several drives from FL to VA and back and having 3 young high school owners not take the best of care of it.  I will probably be selling it soon while it still has some value and use that money to lease something cheap for a while.

FI has two vehicles.  He has an 06 F-150 that he loves (and I do too....I kinda want a truck after driving it some but kinda unnecessary since I'm not rugged haha).  He also has a Suzuki 750 bike all black (don't remember the model to be honest).  I was sooo anti-motorcycle until he got me on the back of it and now I'm addicted.  I'm just a passenger on that though!

2010 GMC Terrain :)  Just bought it a year ago February...got rid of my 2006 Toyota Corolla was having issues with the whole recall thing and on really cold days it would stall at a stop light!  Needed a bigger car anyway for my St. Bernard Charlie!  He just loves the terrian now he can stretch out in the back when the seats are folded down!

I drive a 2005 Mazda 3. I like it for the most part. The air conditioning never seemed great though (even new) which is a bummer considering I now live in Texas (I was living in Michigan).

Fiance drives a 2007 Mustang. I don't know the model. It's bright orange!

I juuust traded in my 2007 chevy cobalt coupe, it was bright yellow fully loaded loved it! But.. with us living up north the car was terrible in the snow!  We traded it in for a 2012 Chevy Silverado Z71 and its Metallic Gray.  My FI drives that truck and loves it.  I am now driving his old car which is a 2004 Dodge Stratus, silver, which I have nick named "the beast" haha.  Hopefully next year we can trade that in for the Chevy Traverse :)

That's good to hear! I have heard that from a few people... I am like 99.99999999% sure that's what I'm getting once the wedding is over! When FMIL had hers we actually put the back seats down and both dogs crates fit PERFECTLY with space to put stuff in. How amazing is that going to be when we go camping and take the pups? lol

I've actually only had my license for 2 years - I got it when I was 29. I had a MAJOR fear of driving and would hyperventilate just by touching the wheel. Funny how I'm now the road raged soccer mom flipping the bird at all the douchecanoes at rush hour LOL

It was actually FI who first started teaching me and he sold his standard car for an automatic Nissan X-Trail so that I could learn and have something to drive when I got my license. He drives a Chevy Silverado.

I have a gold mini cooper - I love it and so does FI!  He asks to drive a lot when we take my car out, he says its like having a go cart on the road  He has a black audi s4 avant, but his is manual and I can only kinda drive it (just in case of emergency really).

FI is really good with cars and does a lot of work on them as a hobby, so he makes sure I take care of my car well.  Definitely keeping the cooper until we have kids!

<div>I drive the smaller version of the acadia and I love it(terrain)!  Our car guy was saying that all GMC's come with a standard back up camera standard now(not sure if your 08 model does).  It gets about 27 miles to the gallon city driving!  Can't complain!</div>

I drive a 2008 red Honda Accord that I drove off the lot with 11 miles on it. I love it because it was the first car I ever got to pick out myself! My other cars were fancier cars, but they were all hand-me-down cars from my dad. My fiance drives daily a 2006 silver Ford Ranger and has stored in our garage a 1967 Ford Mustang that he refuses to part with.

I have a blue Toyota Yaris hatchback.  It's really small and turns on a dime!  Love it.  Just exceeded 100,000 miles this summer, so it's getting up there in age.  I'd love to have either a new fiat or old microcar in the future!  I also have a jeep wrangler, use it mainly to take the dogs to the park since gas mileage is bad.  FI drives a mini cooper, it's such a cool car!  He also has an Xterra.  I think we're going to get rid of a vehicle when we get married, 4 cars for 2 people is a lot to fit in the driveway/garage!

I have a red 1998 Ford Escort ZX2.  It's the only car I've ever owned.  My parents bought it for me as a gift when I was 17.  It's also a manual, and I love it!  The thing has been on its last leg for about 3 years, I think.  It's got 215,000 miles on it and it's still running really well.  The A/C isn't so great, but it's workable.  Ideally, I'll be getting a new car after the wedding.  FI wants something we can put a hitch on and haul stuff.  I want a car cause I do a lot of street parking for school.

FI drives a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo, and his car is actually probably in worse condition than mine.  The body is fine, but the tansmission constantly slips.  So I'm guessing that we'll end up buying him a new car right after mine is paid off.

I have mini cooper too!  I am obsessed with them and it's the only kind of car I've ever owned.  Mine is a 2009 and it's black with white racing stripes and the roof is white with black racing stripes.  My FI likes driving it too but doesn't like to be seen driving it..lol.

My FI drives a 2011 Jeep Wrangler.  He's completely in love with it.  We want to have kids right after we get married so it looks like I may have to give up the mini for a bit.  I'm hoping to keep it and just get a Jeep Cherokee as our family car but FI wants me to trade in the mini...we'll see :-)

2008 Chevy Cobalt sport. It is yellow. And I get pulled over all the time for "speeding" when cars are zooming past me. Dislike that about my car. But other than that I love it.

I drive a 2004 maroon Chevy Impala. It was a hand-me-down from my dad. It gets me from point A to point B, so I like it.

FI drives a 2005 black Mazda 3 hatchback that he bought new. We both are going to need new cars in the next few years, not sure how we're gonna make that one work haha.

FI and I both have a Toyota Carolla S. I have a 2010 and he just got a 2012 the beginning of the month. I can honestly say that I love my car and FI is loving his already. I had the recall issues but there haven't been any since then. It's small but has great space and a huge trunk and the seats fold down. I was thinking about trading it in after my lease but I honestly think I love it too much to get rid of it!

My mom drives a Mazda CR-V and she also loves it. I'm short though and it's hard for me to drive, but that's just me. As a vehicle though, I like it.

I drive a 2008 Red Dodge Nitro and I love it! It handles well in all kinds of weather and is a smooth ride. Plus I like sitting up higher, easier to see the lines in parking lots. FI drives a 2010 black Honda Civic. It is a great little car and really good with gas. Being only a two door though we are always packed in when a group of us go out!

I have a 2010 Toyota Rav4 that I LOVE!!  It gets great gas mileage, fits 4 adults and 2 dogs comfortably with camping gear or skis on top and has 4 wheel drive.

I always drove tiny cars and swore that I didn't need four wheel drive but I got this car while living in a place where I had a 90 mile roundtrip commute all on windy terrible country roads that were never plowed.  Now, I love it.  I also love that my car doesn't constantly bottom out.

FI drives a lifted 2001 Jeep Wrangler that gets HORRIBLE gas mileage, but it's kind of his 'fun, short drives' vehicle.  He prefers to drive the Toyota for any type of distance/substantial driving.

I'm a bit late to this post because I haven't been on all weekend, but it's right up my ally!
FI and I are huge car people, we both drag race for fun!  I'm sure you'll sense a theme.  We have a bright blue 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4, a silver 2001 Dodge Dakota R/T, a charcole gray 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, a bright blue 2004 Suzuki GSXR750 (sport bike), and my daily driver is a maroon 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse while my FI drives a work truck (a Dodge Sprinter).  Obviously we are Chrysler peopleLaughing  Loved reading everyone's thoughts on cars.  And those of you who are looking to upgrade to a family vehicle, I have to say I LOVE my Grand Cherokee.

We both have Subarus- mine's a silver Impreza Outback Sport ('09) and his is a dark red Forester ('11). I needed AWD to guarantee I can get to work in the winter (it doesn't snow here often, but as a result there's not much in the way of snow removal equipment, and when it does dump, the town shuts down- I'm an ICU nurse and "I can't get out of my driveway" isn't a valid excuse when I need to relieve my co-workers!), and we use his for most of our outdoor adventures (good cargo space, racks, higher clearance). I love our Subies!!
