Six Flags over GA Honeymoon

Due to work schedule our vacation is only one week, we are debating on going to Six Flags in GA(I love thril rides) but I don't know what else to do afterwards. We are only planning on staying 4 days and 3 nights. I know there is a honeymoon board but the June board ladies respond quicker!!! Does anyone have any ideas what else we can do while we are in Atlanta? Thanks for feedback.

  • May be worth posting this on the Georgia-Atlanta board as well...

    Georgia Aquarium
    World of Coca-Cola
CNN tour (GAq, Coke and CNN are all within walking distance of each other)
Stone Mountain (can climb the rock, watch a laser show, walk the plantation...)
    High Museum of Art
Atlanta Symphony (not sure if they are in session that time of year though)
Sundial at the top of the Westin gives a pretty great 360 of Atlanta on a clear day
    Atlanta Braves
    SweetWater Brewery

I'm positive there's a lot more than that..

  • Keep in mind, that Six Flags is on the opposite side of ATL from the places that PP posted. You are going to HAVE to get a car or drive while your there. If you aren't used to driving, I don't suggest it. Atlantians are rough (I lived there until almost a year ago.)
You will end up driving probably an hour or more to any of the places listed above.
I would stay at a nice hotel in ATL, I will list a few later because I can't remember them... The Ritz-Carlton for example, and then go places either on the North side of ATL or the South side where Six Flags is.
You could also stay at a hotel near Stone Mountain, but again that's like an hour or so from the city-maybe longer.

Bottom line, you're going to need a car, patience, a GPS to stay out of the hood, and a good driver.

  • Ok those are some places to start with. I will be making the itinerary so the aquarium and museum will be added to the list!

</div><div>Ok thank you and yes we are driving there so we will have a car. And yes ATL drivers are rough!!! I've drove there before and didn't enjoy it because my car at the time didn't have enough power! And I didn't think about us driving everywhere so we need to consider adding an extra hour on to our site seeing.

  • The driving does suck around here but you can still do a lot in four days. Maybe consider staying general vicinity of the aquarium and those attractions (maybe look into a citypass even), then drive out to Six Flags for a day.

I do too!  We would always go when I was little and we'd come down here to visit, and I still love it just as much
