I knew NYC was expensive... but really??

There’s this really cool store in NYC called M&J Trimmings that has buttons, rhinestones, ribbons… all these really cool “trim” things for any project you are working on. I had bought some ribbon samples before for our invites and never really paid attention to cost since I was only getting a yard or so. And I expected a discount for buying in large quantities. For one of the ribbons we are going to use, they charge $1.59 per yard. 50 yards would be $39.75. The other ribbon is $2.98 per yard. We would end up paying just over $110 for the ribbon that we need. That’s more than any other single element of our invites, such as our pocketfolds or even the boxes we are sending them in… or even the real starfish that we are putting on top!

I went on eBay and found a spool of 50 yards of the first ribbon for $11. Working on the other one still, but found it at a specialty ribbon store online for $1 cheaper per yard.

Yikes!! I feel bad for the people who don’t shop around.
