Postage on RSVP's

I have all my invites and RSVP's ready but haven't sent them out yet. Is it customary to put a stamp on every RSVP envelope? I know some people will call, email or just hand the RSVP back to me, so putting a stamp on every envelope seems a waste of money to me. What do you think?

Re: Postage on RSVP's

  • Every one that I have seen has included it, and usually they are Forever stamps to cover any weight issues with the invites. I find them rather unnecessary if the guests you invite are people you see on a regular basis or are capable of making a phone call. Thats just me though.
  • Tbh I'm only including them for out of town guests. We are hand delivering invites to locals since most of them go to our church and I see them twice a week as it is.

  • I know I am adding the stamp except for the ones for my colleagues that are getting those by hand.

  • I am adding a stamp for every invite.  I am sure a couple people will hand the RSVP to me, but that would only save a few dollars, so it's easier and more consistent to just stamp them all.
  • Just a tip for fellow Canucks - be sure your RSVP envelope is big enough. Canada Post has size requirements and I know that C&P's rsvp envelopes are too small. I'd hate to see anyone waste the money on all that Canadian postage for nothing!

  • I put a stamp on every RSVP envelope. We do have a lot of OOT guests though!

  • I get that it is a pain to waste postage that will never get used However, I feel like that is a much better alternative than inconveniencing a guest who wants to mail it back. Even if I saw someone every day I'd still probably mail a RSVP. There is just something special about snail mail in the digital age.

  • I am adding it to each of them. I feel like, as PP said, I would rather spend the few dollars I would have saved just to ensure I don't inconvenience any of my guests who may choose to send it.

All of this. Plus you might think they will hand it back, but sometimes people will forget to grab it.

I'm being bad. I'm not including it. I made sure my key people were okay with it first: my FI, Mom & FMIL. I did give people the option of rsvp'ing via email along with postal mail.

We are including stamps on ALL of our RSVPs, because I expect everyone to mail them back in.  The only two envelopes that won't get them will be our two international guests beccause I don't have their international postage.  One will be sent to us from Poland and the other from Italy (Italy has already said she won't be coming to the wedding).
