Hotels

For those of you having receptions downtown, which hotels are you using for guests?  Do you know which ones offer free shuttles from reception sites near by?

Most hotels offer free shuttle, but they also require you to sign a contract to hold the rooms which makes you financially responsible for them (and most only give blocks of at least 10) If you dont have a guest to stay in the room you and fiance will have to pay for them! I think we're just going to talk to out of town guests on the phone and help them find a room thats close rather than reserve a block. I think most people these days are good making their own reservations

We reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott downtown.  I'm not sure about the shuttle.  We had to do a block because all my extended family lives out of town and October 2nd and/or 3rd is a Nascar race (which apparently brings in a boatload of people into the city).  We wanted to lock in a good rate.

We blocked rooms with the Crowne Plaza.  They didn't make us sign a contract and we got a good rate.  We don't have to pay if we don't use all of the rooms.  They have a free shuttle van that we can use as long as we reserve it.  I also called the Hampton Inn on the plaza and they were very nice.  The Aladdin downtown also had great rates and didn't require a contract with fee.
