GM gift help

We are totally stuck on what to get one of our GM.  A little bacground on him is he got in a little trouble a little while back so he can't leave the state and we don't want to get him anything alcohol related.  So the typical flask, beer mug, etc is out.  He smokes but it isn't something we encourage so a lighter or nice cigarette case isn't something we really want to do.  He likes baseball but the closest baseball team is in another state so can't get him tickets.  He loves his Audi but with a $25 budget can't really do anything there.  He never dresses up so a tie or cuff links is pointless.  We got the rest of our GM grilling aprons but he doesn't grill either!

We are totally stuck!  Did you get your GM something that somehow doesn't fit into one of these categories?!  We are running out of time and getting desperate.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks!

Re: GM gift help

  • wow, that is tough.  All of FI GM are really into fishing/hunting/camping etc;  You can order a fly fishing rod off amazon for $20 (we did this for one), we also ordered some camping gear off of wildbills.com (this is a wholesale site) extremely cheap. hmm... thats all I got, sorry haha  GL
  • You said he smokes...does he like cigars? I know you said you didn't want to encourage smoking but cigars feel slightly different to me and they do make a nice gift.

Haha they are to me too.  FI already has cigars for all of them to smoke together at the reception.  I bounced off FI getting him a gift certificate to wherever he gets his Audi worked on/detailed because that's all I got.  Waiting FI's reply.  Everytime I post on the board for help it always gives me creative juices getting it out there lol.
  • We got the GM personalized money clips. It was tough for us, but thats what we decided and they came out really nice.

  • Movie tickets? Maybe a gift certificate to a car detailing place (I know there are ones around here that will do their "lunchtime special" for around $30-35, so pretty close to your budget)? Is there a cool barbershop in the area that does straight-razor shaves and stuff?

  • We're having our reception at a ballpark, and I actually bought almost all of our "honorees" tshirts of the stadium/team. For $25, you should be able to get him a t-shirt from his favorite team.
  • How about a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant? I like the idea about a gift certificate for detailing, maybe you could throw in some car wash gift certificates too?

  • I like the detailing gc, that sounds like a great idea.
FI has one groomsman who is a big coffee drinker so doing a reusable mug and a gc for his fav coffee shop (where they refill mugs at a discounted cost so he'll get even more out of it with his new mug :) )
