Annulment update

Finally - news! No decision yet, but at last...forward movement! The tribunal called me today & said the reports from the psychological expert & the Defender of the Bond have both been submitted. She said: "We hope to have good news for you in January." If it is affirmative, it still has to go the second instance, but we actually should be able to start making real plans!!! I know it's a small thing compared to what some others are experiencing, but if you have a spare lil' prayer...please send it up. Linda

I think I remember your original post.  You were married outside the church and divorced for reason of abuse?

It does surprise me that the simple lack of form hasn't made this a bit quicker but I know you just have to be patient.  Stinks though.

I'll say a prayer for some speed on your situation and best wishes for a wonderful and hopefully married, new year!

I was married outside of the church, and divorced because of abuse. I worked with our priest to obtain my annulment, and it only took a couple of months once we submitted the paperwork, and never recieced a call from the tribunal. Good luck and prayers that all goes through quickly for you :)

I've only been Catholic for a couple of years, so I was not Catholic when I got married the first time, so that's why I've had to go through the whole process. Then a couple of my witnesses took a while to get their statements in, because they found the questionnaires upsetting. Finally, the psychological expert who was initially assigned to my case had the thing for THREE MONTHS! The tribunal then transferred the case to the new expert, who got it done in two weeks. They have been true to their word in expediting the case, since the Defender of the Bond's report also has gone in.

Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts and prayers. This board has been a great source of comfort and communication for me - thank you!!!!
