HELP--anyone know anything about Justice of the Peace in Harrisburg-area?

Hi!
My fiance and I are getting married in October with friends and family, etc.., but to do that need to save up so need to move in together to maximize savings.  We just decided prior to moving in together we'd go to the JP, since his parents are very conservative and don't believe in people living together before being married and we don't want to make any waves with them.

Anyways, we thought we knew what we were doing--got the wedding license, figured we'd call the JP and see what their hours were, and then found out that the JPs we were t considering in Cumberland County don't marry people when we called.

Has anyone been married at the JP first or know of someone else who officiates something small (i.e., just us and our witnesses)?

Thanks!

I'm not sure how it works but my cousin and his now wife just called up the Court House in Reading and they got married in there. I don't know about other counties but all they did was call and get an appoinetment.

Sorry I can't really be of more help. Call a court house and find out or google JP in Harrisburg surrounding areas should also come up

I know ours does (Middletown)  but when we called they asked if we lived in the township.  You might want to call and see if the mayor will do it.   I know my officant might do it.  He cost $75 and traveled to Harrisburg for us at no extra cost.  If you want his info PM me.  I don't want to post his number not sure of the rules about that.

Thanks so much for your help, ladies!  We actually found a judge at the Cumberland County Courthouse who will do it there in one of the court rooms--and he actually doesn't charge anything!  We are getting married February 11th :)
