I had no idea a day in the city would become something so much more. We had plans months ago to go to the top of the Empire State Building, while in the city for a play Louis was performing in. It was freezing and windy that day, so we gave up on that plan and said we would "do it next time"
Next time happened to be March 25. We went to Mass together in the morning and hopped a Path Train into NYC. It was cloudy that day, but the rain never came and the temperature was pleasant. We went to Starbucks, Saw The Intrepid, ate some Pizza, and then headed to the Empire State Building.
We stopped along the route to the top to have a cheesy photo taken and then took the elevators up to the observation deck. When we made it to the top, the sun came out.

The View from the top of the Empire State Building
It was a beautiful evening. The sun was low in the sky, and I was happily clicking away on my camera, entirely in my own little world. We were up there for quite a while, just enjoying the sights, and our time together feeling on top of the world. I snuggled up to close to my (now) fiance for a hug, when he pulled out a tiny little velvet box encased in a red ribbon and simply said, "I have something else you may want to take a picture of." I was very surprised! He then got down on one knee, and the rest is sort of a very happy blur. I vaguely remember someone congratulating us. We wound up paying for that horrible souvenir photo just to commemorate the occasion.
The ring is 19k Portuguese gold with a 3/4 carat diamond. It's very delicate and pretty and so special since its from his family's store. His dad even did the sizing for me, so I had it done the next day in just a few minutes.
