I am going to be making my own ceremony programs. I bought a box of single card invitations becuase I thought i might use them but I would up not being able to find any more boxes of them so I am turning those into my programs.
And me and my MOH (my roomate) are going to try to do a "flowers on string" kind of background for the arch at my venue. We'll see how it goes!

We're doing the invites, programs, and favors ourselves with the help of my FMIL. It was one of the things she jumped at right after we were engaged. So right now, I'm stalking websites & craft stores looking for invite styles that I like . . . we still have a while to get them done since the wedding isnt until next March, which is great!

I'll be scouring craigslist/garden ridge/hobby lobby/goodwill for some decor for my rustic/vintage/winter theme haha

I'm not bold enough to attempt to do my own invites or programs- I love the ladies who have that creative vibe!

I will be doing quite a few DIY projects but I think my biggest one is the pomanders I am making for both the ceremony and the reception.  I am making them from tissue paper. I did some for my SIL wedding and will attach a pic from one that I made for hers as I havent started mine yet. Im using them at my reception as part of my centerpiece. Im also making centerpieces for the kids tables and wanted them to match my adult tables so my adult tables will have glass vases with blue and silver gems in them with the pomanders resting on top of the vase and my kids tables will have plastic vases filled with skittles with dum dum lollipops in the shape of a ball at the top.

mybestfriend--- that is really super cute!!!

I just started on ours-- which I got the idea from Kelsey-- because she had a lemonade stand- so I wanted to make a sign for ours. We will also have directional signs that have our names and which way the ceremony and reception are. This is my sign... so far. Still need to antique it.

    Looks great! I think your guests will love the lemonade stand!! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

    My DIY projects were:
-Something blue on the bottom of my shoes
    -Ring bearer pillows
    -Guest book quilt
-Painted/decorated bird cage for card box
-Sign for thank you card pictures (and then the thank you card)
    -Programs
    -Kid's activity book
-Made wraps for our silverware with our initials on them
-All print materials for wedding (bar menu, sparkler exit "directions", candy bar "directions", guest book "directions", bathroom basket sign)
    -Candy bar letters
    -Candy bar bags
    -Bathroom basket

I had a bunch more things I wanted to do and ran out of time. I wish I would've been able to complete them because, of course, I noticed those missing things.

Kelsey-- what did you put your lemonade in? Did you rent it? I am so glad you shared this with me. My FI loves it!!!! :)

And I am not going to lie-- I often look at your blog because your wedding is so fantastic. Completely different from mine-- but still just wonderful.

I'm glad you like the idea so much! :)

We used these dispensers (we had two of them and a metal tub with bottled water on ice, also):
    <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Creativeware-Gallon-Polycarbonate-Beverage-Dispenser/dp/B001DYJ9ZO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1247926913&sr=1-5" rel="nofollow">http://www.amazon.com/Creativeware-Gallon-Polycarbonate-Beverage-Dispenser/dp/B001DYJ9ZO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1247926913&sr=1-5</a>
They worked well for us because the ice underneath couldn't water down the lemonade when it inevitably melted.

I also looked at these and liked them but picked the other for the ice factor:
    <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Hammered-Glass-Jugs-Drink-Dispenser/dp/B003LTF7U0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1279930480&sr=1-6" rel="nofollow">http://www.amazon.com/Hammered-Glass-Jugs-Drink-Dispenser/dp/B003LTF7U0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1279930480&sr=1-6</a>

Amazon has lots if you just type in something like "lemonade dispenser". (That's what I did and found sooo many. Those were my top two choices. They have a lot of different styles though.)

Oh goodness-- I wish you hadn't shown me the hammered ones-- I really love those!!! OMG!! So pretty. But pricey! This is the one we were looking at :

But I like yours so much better!

I feel like this is something you could definitely re-sell or keep to use in your home. We kept one of ours and my mom took the other. We will use it when we have company over for a BBQ or something and my mom has already used hers twice since our May wedding for the same thing.

Which ever one you choose, I'm sure it will be just fine! They will be all about the lemonade and won't notice the dispenser, lol

Mybest friend-- how did you learn to make those?

Here is the website I got the best instructions from. http://eventjubilee.com/blog/diy-tissue-paper-pomanders/
You just judge your paper size by the size styrofoam ball you use. I used 5in styrofoam balls and made the tissue paper 10in x 5in. Its very easy to do once you get your first couple of flowers made and figure out what works for you. I suggest cutting all your paper first as that is the most time consuming part (made much easier with a paper cutter).

No DIY here... we are buying/ordering/renting it all, every single piece of paper, linen, decoration, etc. since we are 1,500 miles away -- so it makes no sense to make things that I will then have to ship at prohibitive cost. We're not even doing seating charts since it is a casual cocktail reception with heavy apps. I enjoy picking out everything, and I am very particular about colors, telling people what to deliver, what to print, and what it should look all look like. But I plan to show up with my dress, shoes, veil and suitcase with lingerie and that's about it. There will be lots of flowers, food and alcohol. Maybe a guestbook. My FMIL keeps asking what we are making "on our own."  Umm.  We're signing the checks. I just don't see how it makes financial sense to do stuff that we'll have to tote or ship.
