  Typically they are given either a corsage (pin-on or wrist), a corsage which they could pin to their clutch (if they are carrying on) or a small nosegay.  It is a nice gesture to give these two very important individual flowers.  Not only does it designate them as the MOB and MIL but most times, all members of the wedding party plus any readers and ushers and other family members such as grandparents are given flowers.

  I am having corsages made for both of them, and the grandmas.  i think its a nice gesture.

  MOH or MOB?  Your MOH should definitely have flowers...
  Both of our mom's will also have flowers...probably pin on corsages, as will any readers or anyone participating in a special way.
