Yesterday we went to register at Macy's. Most of the stuff we registered for was under $100; a coffeemaker, kitchen tools, etc.
We also registered for china. Lenox, at $123 a placesetting.
I am feeling extraordinarily guilty about this. I know people don't have to buy it for me if they don't want. But does it look bad to even register for something like that in this day and age?
I minored in Social Work in college so maybe I am more sensitive to this than most...I keep thinking about how some people in the US literally live in boxes and I am asking for $1200 in dishes.
As for using it, I would say we host 1-2 big famiily events per year, and probably 6 more casual friend dinners that I would likely use the china for. The pattern is beautiful; we both love it. And yes, we picked matching Lenox silverware.
I would like to know what you guys think...did you register for fine china? I think I will feel better if I feel this is the norm and I am not going to shock people when they look at my registry.
P.S. Here it is :-) http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/lenox-dinnerware-bellina-collection?ID=183488&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results
