Ceremony Readings

We are having a Lutheran religious ceremony. Looking probably for bible verses, but share what your readings are. TIA! Sorry for those on the Sept. 2010 board for the double post!

Ours are for a Catholic ceremony (not sure it matters....) but this is what we're doing:

    1st reading: Tobit 8:4b-8
    2nd reading: 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8a
    Gospel: John 15:9-12

I can get you the text of the readings, if you're interested.

We were also give a book of readings to choose from - FI and I read through them separately, then compromised on which ones we chose.

    Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:  10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!  11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?  12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

    Ephesians 4: 2-6
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Our officiant suggested  Corinthians 13:1-13 or the Story of Ruth and Naomi (Ruth 1:16-18).

We didn't end up using either, though. Our moms did our readings and we let them decide what they wanted to read. My mom chose Apache Wedding Blessing:
Now you will feel no rain for each of you will be shelter to the other Now you will feel no cold for each of you will be warmth to the other Now there is no loneliness for you for each of you will be companion to the other Now you are two persons but there is one life before you Go now to your dwelling place to enter into the days of your togetherness And may your days be good and long upon this earth
DH's mom read a selection from Captain Corelli's Mandolin:  Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
The versions they read were slightly different, but that's the best I can find right now.

We don't have anything officially picked yet, but there's an e.e. cummings poem I love that's a "he said/she said" kind of thing that I'd like to find and have read.
