Vietnamese-American Wedding in Atlanta on budget

My finance and I are thinking of getting married in September or October with a $25,000 budget. We like outdoorsy/rustic (without being too Southern).
I (the bride) am Vietnamese and would like to do most of the traditions.

We are having trouble deciding the timeline with the intercultural wedding, finding an affordable nice venue that will fit about 350 wthin the budget!.

Any ideas on possible locations that would have a nice cerermony area and would fit 350 (again within the budget?)

Thanks!

Also, any tips with intercultural weddings or Vietnamese traditions would help also!

  • I'm sorry I can't help!  You should try posting this question, if you haven't already, on the local board for Atlanta area brides and on the cultural weddings board.  People there will probably know more.  The boards are on the left.

  • I'm having an intercultural Chinese-American wedding. My advice is to pick out a couple of traditions that are very important to each side and skip the less important ones. For us it was things like traditional Chinese dinner out, qi  pao at reception in. Having things heavily skewed to one side leaves the other side hurt.

When you do make a decision, stand firm. Be prepared for "what do you mean you aren't doing X? You have to do X." I had to warn my grandparents ahead of time that my reception dress will be very fitted with a high slit up the side. They might have had a heart attack otherwise.

I am sad door games got cut. It would have been hilarious to watch my sisters torture FI.
  • I'm american, marrying a vietnamese man in december. we've chosen to do a civil, american style ceremony, with the "tea ceremony" offering to our parents towards the end. I'm also changing into a beautiful ao dai for a portion of our reception. I found a great website if you're interested: http://www.aodaiphuongthuy.com/ao-dai/Index.aspx . They were easy to work with, and my ao dai is beautiful! Also, if you're planning on bilingual invitations - try http://ap-printing.com/ . They'll print english and vietnamese on the same invite, or you can just do one or the other. good luck with your planning!

The latest issue of Brides magazine also had an article about mixed ceremonies (for lack of a better term) different ethnic backgrounds, religions, etc.  If you have access to that it may provide some ideas too.
