Dress size

Morning Ladies! Did you order your wedding dress the size you are now? Or should you order a size up so it is easier to make alterations? I now it is harder to take a dress out than it is in. Does anybody have any dress shopping advice?

I believe you order to the size of your largest measurement, as you say its easier to take the rest in rather than let it out.

The salesperson should be able to help you determine which size you need to order though, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I was right on the edge of 2 sizes when I got measured so I went with the bigger size since it's easier to take in and there's only so far a dress can be let out, although I'm hoping to lose lots of weight before the wedding. I agree with Iodonnell that your consultant should be able to help you get the right size.

I'm hoping to order my dress in the next few months, and I plan on ordering whatever size I am at the time. Dresses I've tried on have fit really well all around. According to David's Bridal, I'm a "true 10" but I'm hoping to be a "true single digit number" again soon so we'll see.

However, as others have said, it's easier to take in than let out so I would go for the bigger size if it was questionable/right on the edge.

I purchased mine 4 months ago and ordered it a size bigger.

I ordered the one that fit me at the time, and I have since lost weight so I will be needing to take it in more (already need it anyway for my none existent bust lol). I have wide hips so again, I was going to need the top taken in anyway and just my pooch (under belly button area) won't be as visible with my loss in weight lol

I ordered mine bigger because the lady told me it's easier to take out fabric than put it in lol. I can't wait for my alterations appointment in October

mrskairser- my top is very small, so I often wear medium and small shirt sizes but I am pear-shaped, so my jeans are usually an 8-ish. I actually fit in the size 8 dress quite well (the size I ordered) because it flares out enough right at my hips. Now when I tried on more mermaid-type dresses, I was barely squeezing into a 10 and would have needed to order a 12 becuase my hips are so big, so generally these things are not true to your real size. Which is quite cruel.
