Transportation for 1 block?

The hotel where we will be staying on our wedding night is literally 1.5 blocks (.2 miles) from the reception.  Any suggestions on how we should get there?  We can have someone drop our things off earlier in the day, but I feel like I might just be okay with walking.  Is that a horrible idea?

Re: Transportation for 1 block?

  • I'd plan on walking... but think about other options for rain.  Does the hotel have a shuttle that would come and get you?  Could a parent, BM, or friend drop you off on your way out?

  • Our reception wasn't that close but about 5 minutes away so we just went into his car and left to the reception...other than the photog we were the last at the church.

  • I'd see how you feel that night (and like a PP mentioned, what the weather is!). Either walk or ask a friend/parent for a ride at the end of the night.
  • Walking in the rain, in my wedding dress, with all my stuff... even if it's not a long way... doesn't sound appealing. I would keep an open mind about finding a method of transportation, JIC n

1.5 blocks?  This wouldn't even be a discussion - we'd be walking.  Even in the rain, we'd be walking.
  • I think even in the rain it might be fun!  Just walk

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • I wouldn't walk in the rain in a wedding gown -- what a mess that would make of the bottom of the dress.
  • I would plan to walk, but definitely have a back up plan in case it rains or you are just too tired (why walk that extra block-and-a-half if you're totally wiped out from dancing?).  It should be pretty easy to have a friend or family member give you a ride, right?
